I hope so. I can't understand why everybody wants to ban paintball. Be careful, never understimate the power of stupid people. For some reason they're the ones people listen to.
I wonder why they don't spend their time on more important issues. How many bad paintball incidents could they have had to get them to try this? 5 tops. If I lived there I'd try to get them out of office for waisting time and tax payer money. Why don't they work on traffic, or pollution, or crime, or poverty, or the homeless. Work on improving the city, not making it illegal to drive through their city with a marker in your trunk as you drive to some tourney. LAME!!!

I would really hope something as stupid as this wouldn't pass. Even if it did I'm sure enough people in the industry could direct enough heat to have them let it up. Make sure someone posts back with the results.

Well today's the 11th, get back with any information if you can. BTW, you can say it will never happen, or that people are stupid ect...well I got bad news, people can be stupid. I was involved in the automotive industry (restorations) and no-one thought that New Jersey (if I recall right) would pass their "klunker" laws, basicly making it illegal to own a car from the 70's or older, but it did happen.
Don't say it won't happen, do SOMETHING to keep it from happening.

I think I was too late, but here is what I wrote them:
--------------------------
Dir Sir/Ma'am:
I may already be too late to respond to the paintball ordinance, but I would still like to voice my opinion. This is in regards to:
02-0713 ORDINANCE - FOR the purpose of prohibiting the possession, sale or transfer, or discharge of paintball guns and similar devices; defining certain terms; imposing certain penalties; correcting, clarifying, and conforming certain related provisions governing gas- and air-pellet devices; and generally relating to guns and other devices that discharge pellets and other objects. - PUBLIC SAFETY SUBCOMMITTEE (020500)
First, I would like to state that I do not live in or near Baltimore. I am an educated IT manager for a government contractor (<edit for privacy>) on Kingsbay Nuclear Naval Submarine base in southeast Georgia. I have been playing paintball as a sport for many years. This proposal has been brought to my attention by several members of my community that find this proposal incredibly malignant to the sport.
If this does go through, then it could be very detrimental to paintball communities everywhere. I am not completely sure why this has even been brought up, but I assure you that whoever did suggest this has not educated themselves in the area of paintball. Some people believe that paintball promotes violence, vandalism, etc.. but realistically, that is a very limited view. Paintball is a sport, just like football, baseball, soccer and many others. It does not "emulate" war, or otherwise promote the idea that killing other people is "ok". As far as vandalism is concerned, every day people are attacked and even killed with baseball bats. No one is screaming that we should outlaw baseball because of that.
Of course these are my opinions (and the opinions of my friends), but here are some statistics that I would like for you to take a look at: http://www.f4og.com/safe.html . According to this survey taken by the National Safety Council, paintball has less injuries (0.31 yearly injuries per 1000 participants) then even golf (1.13 yearly injuries per 1000) and fishing (1.37 yearly injuries per 1000).
I would just like to stress that I feel as though this violates many people's choice to entertain themselves. I do not want your city to be an example to other cities. Please make the right choice and consider saying no to this ordinance. Thank you for your time, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

A very well thought out letter man, I hope it does do some good... I doubt they'll be able to outlaw it though... or at least enforce it, the sport of paintball is too damned big for that to happen...
