I was planning on buying an evil kit for my 98 custom. But somebody told me that the threads on those kits were made only for the model 98 and not the custom. And that i would have to use a barrel adapter in order for it to work. Is this true?
And while on the topic of the pipe kit, how many of you guys have owned it or used one? Seems a good kit for the price.
thanks

If you already have a J&J kit, I wouldn't bother buying the pipe kit. You won't see any real performance difference.

Was it me who said get a Pipe kit? I've recommend it so many times i forget who i've done it to lol. But yeah if you already have an Edge kit then there's no real point in getting a Pipe kit. They are both nice barrels and performance wise you won't see much of if any difference. But just so know Model 98 most of the time means 98 Custom. The 98c is just an improved version of the Model 98 that came out before it. Most of the parts are interchangeable between the two w/ the exception of the Model 98 not being fully customizable as the 98c. I believe like the Model 98 can't accept like double finger triggers, RT's, and E-Grips. Tippmann did at one time slightly change the barrel threads but that was years ago and before the Pipe was discontinued so the threads should match up. Your only real problem there is if you have a really old 98c. Someone feel free to correct on the Tippmann things, i've been out of that area for awhile.

Well i ended up winnning an auction for a nib pipe kit. It says 98 custom in the description, so i should be good. Cant beat $30 shipped!
I love my JJ Elite Kit. Im buying this kit for my wifes 98. Im getting her ready for acouple of scenario games and just some fun on the field.
Im very sure this kit will blow any single bore barrel out of the water in the $30 range! lol
If anyone is looking for this kit you can look at firstcallpaintball and buy it for $50 or find thier ebay auction and get it for cheaper!
I am no way affliated with firstcall just trying to help out fellow pb'ers
Iiveforthis-yes ive seen you recommend this kit to some people. Ive heard alot of people praise this kit. Looked at some reviews and like i said, i think i got it for a killer price. thanks

Ok got ya. I own an older Scepter kit, shot and owned a Freak barrel and the Pipe out shoots them both. Even paying $50-$60 for this barrel is a good deal compared to most other kits these days.

LOL, yep, im having fun looking for some good quality stuff for better prices. Shes only pb'ed once. So im basically buying her a WHOLE setup. Including 98 ups including a kit, vest, remote line, camo and all that kinda stuff. Its gonna be expensive but well worth the experience and time we'll have together. Its actually for my bday gift. Instead of getting me something im getting her the setup! lol
About the pipe kit. Ive heard that the tip is alittle fragile. is this true. And is the regular or ultra tip better?

Man i only hope my wife if i get married likes paintball too lol. I've heard the same about the regular tips, i have an Ultra tip and i believe it's thicker then the regular one at the tip. A friend of mine has a Evil xXx barrel and if the regular tips on the Pipe are as thin as the xXx it's easy to imagine them getting bent.
