Hi I just picked up a defiant and I'm new to ICD markers. I've been hearing alot about the reg's not doing very well w/ Preset tanks, is this true? I also heard that the newest bushmasters have a stiffer spring in the reg to help this? Will I have to do this, the defy is coming with a preset tank.

Any newbie advice would be greatly appreciated.

well, you heard right. . . they will do ok with preset tanks if they have the stiffer spring (i think they started in the 4th gen) but will do better with an aftermarket reg (like sidewinder) or an adjustable tank, but if its a back up it doesnt matter that much . . . cant really think of any advice as they are pretty simple guns, if you think of any other questions, throw 'em up here, we'll help ya out ;)

Ok, I'm going to post a picture or two of it. I looks like a pretty new defiant, would it have that spring? Could I get it? I mean, I can't afford to run a new reg on it for a while (heck my birthday is two months away, I'll just wait). I know it's going to need the asa adapter.

Also, it has a Eclipse adjuster on the front, I'm assuming it's for another reg kind of like the jack hammer mods people always do, and the bolt is red, that anything special? I forgot to ask the guy before I got it.

Thanks for the help Venom! I'm excited, ICD is new stuff to me, I've done enough w/ smart parts and wdp, new toy again...muhahahaha. Actually, I'm sure I'll be ok, I'm just curoius about a couple things on it. To bad it doesn't have an LCD, I'd be the only guy on my team w/ two LCDs, course I'm the only guy with an ICD marker!

Ohh, more stuff. Ok differences between a defy and bushy parts wise. I did get a manual is there good one online, I've been to the website everyone talks about in this forum, but I haven't had a chance to look at everything on there. What else, hows the maintance, cleaning wise?

ya, eclipse makes LPR adjusters for bushy/defiants, thats what it is. i am not familiar with defiants but i am going to GUESS its like a 3rd gen since it doesnt seem to have a battery door yet like the 4th gens did (i think defiants run the same as bushies, not sure though) the stock ICD bolts are usually white, it may have been dyed (my stock bolt was dyed green) or it could be a vapor bolt, not sure. . . i think you will be ok how it is since its just a back up, but i would be careful running a preset on it (you might want to get that spring kit from ICD) cuase im sure it would cause some damage if the reg blew and 800 psi rushed into the gun :|

Oh Tottaly, it's sort of a back up, it's also going to be my gf's gun when she plays. Where can I get the spring replacement? ICD?

okay, i have an older defiant too, i used a preset on it for a while then got an adjustible, it seemed to work fine (then i got a new reg) but on mine i was just curious cause a parts kit came with the "big" spring (it is really big compared to the older ones) but when i tried to put it in i noticed that the little screw in part that goes on top of the spring is to small to hold this gigantic thing, so i think that the rebuild kit for presets would also come with a new adjust knob thingy.

Hmmm, I saw that kit as well, interesting.
