biggest problem with getting a kit for a spyder is that 1. its almost impossible to resell a spyder and 2. even with a barrel kit if tryin to sell youll be able to increase the price like 30 bucks.

Its best just to get a great 1pc barrel. Like a .685 palmers, or buy a large bore like j&j ceramic, CP or lapco bigshot.

Palmers are expensive, and heavier barrels but they perform unbelievable

i want a kit because i want good paint to bore match, and it seems i never buy the same paint twice (i really dont plan on selling my baby) :P also, some of these kits are hard to find online... i dont no why but i could not find a stiffi kit....weird... i like the idea of lots of backs instead of the inserts, i dont really know why... there are so many kits to choose from, and the reviews are al the same for the most part. please post any links to any barrel kits that might be hard to find. angain, thank you all:D

your best bet would be a J&J Edge kit.

brandoncormier4

why is that?

For the money, and the Marker that you have, it is.

You dont want a Carbon Fiber barrel if you play in the woods, because you can damage it very easily. You dont nessicarily want anything too flashy that may give you away.

J&Js are a solid black (if you get ceramic which i would) high performance barrel. They are the perfect solution to a Milsim marker.

That or maybe a Hammerhead, but i think they are ugly.

i love the look of the hammerhead, and the J&J's sound nice, ill think about that, any other sugestions?

hammerhead = the shiz, i love both of mine. Im gonna have to buy a angel threaded and cocker threaded fin kit so i can use em on my other guns.

carbon fiber barrels bad for woods? damaged... ha! carbon fiber is stronger then aluminum, go ahead and try to break one. Heck when the stiffi came out the owner of the proshop i goto tested it out for me, i asked him about durability and he hit it repeatedly off his display table, put big indents into the table but not a scratch on the barrel.

i no hammerheads are good, but what about the "finns" do they work as good as backs? they are really short

AmbushOrigin
09-24-2008, 05:18 PM
their longer then what the backs to the stiffi switch kit are. Ive never noticed any performance decrease with my hammerheads.

arent the finns like 2 inches long?

I found a super sexy infamous sly kit with 4 backs for 100 bux... well its angel threaded but it looks amazing.
who makes hammerheads?

hammerhead... :P

paul and rob are 2 amazing guys. Both players who love the sport, high quality products with outstanding customer service. One of my stainless steel backs gets stuck unless u put a ton of lube on it, and paul offered to replace it but i told him it was no big deal.

yeah get a J&J they are best for the price.

and DONT BLOW ALL UR MONEY. back when i had an a5 i went crazy with upgrades and spent like $500 and i dont know how many hours:eek: trying to make it better. in the end it broke and i needed to buy more ups to fix it and then my list of ups was still going... so i just got my bro's ion and stock its better than the a5 (besides the feedneck and duckbill asa). my point is, really think before u spend ur money, dont act on impulse, and dont buy something just because u want it really bad. my rule:

DONT LET EMOTIONS CLOUD YOUR JUDGMENT:)

end of my sad story...

Yes, but if something like a leaf or something gets caught in the thread it can damage it. They just arnt the best idea for in the woods.

lol... who makes hammerheads...
they sound heavy bc they r made of aluminum. Are they? my angel kit is sooo light so yea i dont want palmer heavy

I highly doubt something will get snagged in the carbon fiber weave. I believe there's a clear finish on the barrels similar to what's on carbon fiber tanks.

laxmaniac88

a carbon fiber barrel without a coating would suck. It would unwrap

METALLICAT
09-26-2008, 07:01 PM
yeah, but i have heard horror stories. More about Battle Swabs on the inside of the barrel, but i still wouldnt take a chance.

iliveforthis99
09-26-2008, 07:11 PM
Yeah i've about swabs damaging the inside of CF barrels before. However though if i remember right that has been fixed at least on the high-end CF barrels.

AmbushOrigin
09-28-2008, 08:21 AM
fibur can be cleaned with swabs, i do believe the deathstix can too, but they have a coating over them. Sly,deathstix etc. pretty much any CF barrel that has designs on it has a vinyl laminate over it. which imo is stupid. I prefer the real look of CF like the fibur and stiffi.

laxmaniac88

Y dont they make a composite or delrin barrel? that would kill...

iliveforthis99
09-28-2008, 11:58 AM
I want to say the Blade has a plastic barrel but i can't exactly remember. I very much doubt though that a plastic or delrin barrel would do anything more other then break and get scratched up.

laxmaniac88
09-28-2008, 01:15 PM
It would weigh nothing :)

AmbushOrigin
09-28-2008, 01:36 PM
delrin scratches super easy. So the barrel wouldnt last long.

paingwin238
09-28-2008, 02:26 PM
but it would be weird to have a plastic barrel on a gun. i would be afraid of breaking it hell im even afraid of breaking my stiffi barrel

iliveforthis99
09-28-2008, 02:49 PM
Exactly, yeah it'd be super light but you'd go through barrels so fast it'd be utterly pointless. Personally i couldn't care less about super light barrels, i prefer something that will balance the gun out a little.

laxmaniac88
09-28-2008, 03:51 PM
lol theyd hav 2 sell the barrels in like 100 packs...

paingwin238
09-28-2008, 06:50 PM
lol i could see newbs getting them lol. I like the stiffi that i have due to the fact that it makes my mini lighter and i love the accuracy. Dont get me wrong it is a little unbalanced but i can deal.

iliveforthis99
09-28-2008, 06:55 PM
Honestly the balance thing isn't something that would turn me off from getting a CF barrel. I'm not real picky about how my gun feels, if i don't like i get used it. My biggest dislike of them is the fact that they are carbon fiber and not alloy. I just can't get used to the look of a 12"-14" tube that is woven to the hard clean look of an all alloy (or a little plastic lol) gun.
