Something other than a marker

I was just wondering if anyone else does this or if it's just me and my friends. Lately at my field a couple of us have gotten into the habit of leaving our markers behind and heading out with plastic swords or just our barrels to play. Treating the swords like barrel tags of course. Generaly i can manage atleast two eliminations a game and i've gotten the flag or the bunker a few time too. Not toting a marker or pods around you can sprint, crawl, and dodge a lot faster. I haven't tried this on speed ball yet but on big fields it works pretty good.

I personally think it's retarded, it defeats the whole purpose of paintball. Why don't you just go play tag with your friends in your back yard??

I dunno it sounds kind of intriguing to me. Kinda like adding the aspect of melee combat to paintballm as well as shooting at each other with guns. I sure as hell wouldn't want to risk it though. Running up to a guy with a plastic sword in my hand only to get lit up by a whole bunch of paintballs comming at 300fps from five feet away. Not exactly my cup of tea. :D

Hey, thats a great idea. One kid at my field did it, (he was like 10) but we were playing storm the crack shack and he just rushed the case and we won right off the bat

Geez you guys. No need to flip out on the dude. I dont think that its a bad idea. It could teach people how to be steathy. Also it could help newbs with flanking and getting over the fear of being hit. I give props to Super, and frankly I think the rest of you guys are jerks!!!

Flame all you like it was only a suggestion and i generaly only do it for scenario games at my field like the one coming up check it out at, www.alamocitypb.com. It's called mage and mixes a bunch of fantasy stuff together to create something that should be pretty cool.
Also In my own defense you guys seem like some pretty cynical players(those who flamed me), I don't know where you guys play but where i do, doing inventive goofy things that win games and lets you have some fun gets you a pat on the back. Where if you want to run around in the woods with a sword for ten minutes out of the eight hours you spend there playing that day you get a couple of laughs and a couple of suprised looks when you tag them out or pull the flag.

Use a washable marker.
Played once against some very good people (ex army or something) and all they were armed with were washable markers. Hell I got tagged out twice like that.
Nothing like someone scaring the hell outta ya when they sneak up.

We played a game once pgp's and for a knife we used bingo makers. played it the woods .you only could carry 15 paintballs total. if you took out the gun you took all his stuff with you.
object of the game was to take the other team out and capture there flag.
