I don't know if this is a big problem or not but my tippy 98c has been acting pretty weird lately (i just switched from a 16" linear barrel [rifled] to a 12" Cp barrel). When i run out of air my gun doesnt do the machine gun thing instead it just fires shorter and shorter distance until it shoots like 5 feet also my gun hasnt been shootingas far its range seems to have dropped a good amount. My velocity screw had pieces comign off of it too. My velocity seems fine but i am a lil worried.

Cracked powertube?

Worn Hammer Spring?

If your velocity is fine, then you shouldn't be worried...

If there are pieces near your velocity screw, your powertube could be chipping or have cracked, open it up and inspect then get back to us.

Its possible also that your barrel has changed the velocity of the paintball because of different bore sizes. I dunno how much of a difference it would have made, but my velocity spiked when I switched from my stock barrel on my A-5 to a 14" linear barrel.

how would the barrell change the velocity? even if he had a bigger or smaller barrell it shouldn't drop his shots from idk feet to 5 feet. and your velocity must not be ok cause if it was ok then it would be shooting fine. did you try turning it up or down? and i mean all the way not just a little bit

A barrel can change the velocity for a number of reasons. Different length barrels and different amounts of porting change the amount of air that's required to push the ball out at a certain velocity. Also, different bore sizes change the ball to bore interaction either increasing friction or increasing blow-by, which also has an impact on velocity.

However, none of this is what he's talking about. I think you're misunderstanding the issue. He was saying that his velocity is fine until he starts running out of air. At this point, most Tippmanns "fart out", and sound like they're going full auto because there's not enough remaining air pressure to fully recock the marker. His is not doing this. The marker still recocks, but doesn't achieve full velocity, resulting in shorter and shorter shots.

This leads me to believe that the OP has a non-standard valve train. A spring kit with a lighter hammer spring, perhaps. The major concern at the moment is to make sure that there is no power tube issue, what with there being pieces coming out there.
