what is it that makes such a big difference between barrels? im looking down my stock autococker barrel, and then my buddies 80$ barrel, and they both look super smooth, mirror-ish, and as straight as the human eye can detect. what is it that makes such a huge difference?!?! (assuming the paint to barrel match is good on both, and i know why 2 piece barrels are better)

Quality probably. Paint to bore match has little to do with it and isn't even needed.

On a cocker, paint to bore match is quite important. It's the big reason a lot of cocker users buy kits. While a kit with a .688 back won't work as well as a single bore .688 barrel, the flexibility is crucial to prevent roll outs.

As for price differences, a lot of that has to do with quality. When you are talking measurements down to a thousandth of an inch, a cheaper, lower quality barrel may not be able to maintain that tight tolerance, and what is sold as a given size may actually be slightly larger or smaller.

Yeah meant to say paint to bore match doesn't matter with non closed bolt guns.

Some of the price difference probably has to do with the material the barrels are made out of as well, with the more expensive barrels tending to use lighter more expensive materials.
