Ok turn it down at least to 180 psi. And get your hands on a chrono. Once you do tweak your dwell until your shooting 280 f.p.s. over the chrono.
Does your Imp have a full flow? I guess not! That first shot dribble is common in Imps that are without the full flow. It will go that way until you get one, the only thing you can do until then is a clearing shot. Kind of a "I'm here to pump you up" shot as Arnie would say!

do impy's with the vff have that problem too? cuz mine has one and that seems to happen to me sometimes as well. Not a huge problem, just kinda annoying

They're not suppose to. How long have you had yours? Have you cleaned the hammer assembly really good? Take it all apart and clean out any old hardened up dow. Make sure there is NO dow on the hammer itself. That will slow things down big time.

i'll try that, only had it since december, i was messing around with the pressure and dwell too, so we'll see. now that's it's finally gotten warm enough around here to play outside....
Mike,
The veloicity is a product of how much pressure you have and how long that gas is turned on. The length of time its "turned on" is controled by the Dwell.
Dwell is normly set by shooting real paint over a chrno. While we have seen Walt set hundreds of Impulses to the correct dwell by ear (yes we always check them) most mortal techs have to use a chrno.
What you need to do is get a very small blade screwdriver (the ones for "fixing" eyeglass frames work great) and some time with a chrno. It appears you have a stock impulse, so I would suggest you set the pressure at 180 psi then adjust the dwell until the gun is shooting at 280 fps. This procedure is covered in full in your manuel and again in FAQ.
