Hi all

I am currently trying to decide whether to upgrade my current Proto Switch EL with a Thermal Lens or to buy a V Force Vantage Pro. Both options cost the same, so I was wondering if anyone here could give me some advice. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If you like the Proto, keep it and save up for something nicer like a profiler, flex or grills.

I will warn you - adding the thermal lens to the Proto Switch will take away some interior space of your mask. If you wear glasses, it might take them from fine to too tight. Once I put the thermal lens in mine, I couldn't wear my glasses with them anymore.

Thanks very much for the advice guys, especially Lenny, I do wear glasses and your comment has made me change my mind about getting the thermal lens. I think I'll go for the Vantage Pro, I'd like to buy a profiler but they are really pricey here in the UK (£50+). Of course, if anyone knows where I can get one cheaper than that I'd be very grateful.

Look on ebay,vantages are 20-30[American money]there.
Look at your local paintball store-they may have some deals there.
It may not be the mask you want but the Jt QLS carnivore Fits over the goggles, has a wide field of vision and speedy lens change,I have no idea where you can get lenses. It is also in your price range.
I looked on DXS's page and there was nothing about vantages fitting over glasses but if you want them it is your choice-I am just here to help.

I live in the UK aswell, so I have an idea of prices for you.

I strongly recommend saving the money to get a "higher range" mask. Maybe a profiler, proflex or e-vents. A 50 quid price tag will seem worth it for sure when your not steaming up.

If the price is a real problem however, you could perhaps buy second hand. Im not sure where you live in the UK, but down south we have some regional tournaments where people will always be selling their gear. You can find a real bargain if you look around for it. If you get a second hand mask, and then perhaps buy a new lense for it depending on the condition you can save yourself quite a bit of cash.

I have had a proto switch, with a thermal lense... when I made the decision to save up and go higher range I never regretted it.

Once again, thanks for the tips. ReapeR, I'm based near Southampton, can you tell me where the nearest tournament to me is. I'd really like to buy one of the higher end masks, as I'm sure that it will make a big difference, but I don't really have the cash, so buying one second hand sounds ideal.
If you could tell me of any tournaments in my area then I would be very grateful, and thank you everyone for your advice so far!

Another nice thing about buying it second hand is that you can try it out and check the fit, to make sure that it fits right over your glasses.

The consensus here seems to be that Profilers and Grills are some of the best masks for people with glasses.
