i have just recieve an 04 icd freestlye from my friend....he said that it had random times of 'breaking down' where it just wouldnt fire anymore and would also eat up internal o-rings like mad....anyone else have these problems or know what they could be caused by?

possibly not lubing it?
"breaking down" isn't very specific, any other info on it?
It's not that hard on o-rings if you keep the gun lubed properly.

all he said was that he had a problem with it breaking down on him.....anohter one of my friends described that it would seem to just stop shooting after a while even though the marker was still on, it would seem as if the computer just didnt want it to shoot anymore....im not exactly sure if this really happened all that often, my tank is off at hydro so i havent had a chance to cycle any air through it yet

strip it down, clean it, and before you relube, check for any burrs or rough areas that contact any moving parts. The FS is a pretty trouble free marker with a little maintenance. But if it's eating orings, you might have machining problems.

bolt and power tube are a must. Download the breakdown schematic from icdpaintball

i talked to a guy at my local pro shop, he says that freestyles are prone to breakdown.....also his opinion is i should sellthe gun while it still works and invest it in my cocker, i dont think im going to do that, but i wasnt sure if anyone else heard that these markers were prone to breakdown and self-destruction

It all depends. I used to have an a-5 that I never had any problems out of. traded it for my first ICD marker, and two months later the guy brings it to me saying it wouldn't shoot. He had somehow blown the drivespring out the back end. It all depends on the maintenance you put in it and noticing the little things before they become a breakdown. Just like a cocker.

yeah i understand....the guy at the shop (m.i. paintball) said to me that they are just not good guns maintenence wise....im not too sure if thats true or not...i mean it only has one moving part lol how could it be hard to maintain?

^true but there are a decent number of o-rings in it, and more seals in a gun means more things that can leak.
BUT if you clean and lube it regularly, you should be fine. I haven't had a problem with the bolt assembly in my Freestyle in the several years I've had it.
If you're used to messing with an autococker, a freestyle should be a breeze.

well i mean im just getting back into it now...and trying to get this stuff all working...the freestyle seems to be working fine to me...the cocker needs a bit of work but im just concerned that the freestyle may just all of a studden crap out for good lol or cost me a serious game by it just shutting down for some reason
