So, I'm a newb and I'm going to start playing paintball. My friends brother is selling his A-5 with a mask, a 20 oz CO2 tank, and about 2000 balls for $100 bucks . Should I buy it?

depends on how good of a condition everything is in, especially the paintballs. If the paintballs are not good they can start a lot of problems with the gun. Also check the hydro test date on the co2 tank. Check the mask lense for cracks or any damage. If everything is in good condition that is a pretty good deal.

That's a good deal for an A-5 in decent condition. The rest of the stuff you'll probably be either upgrading or replacing over time. Try and see if you can shoot it to make sure everything works right.

If there's a problem with it, we can most discernibly help you out to fix it.

For just the Gun and tank, that a good deal providing the A5 is in working condition.

yeah i shot it and it works good. the barrel is f***ked, so im gonna buy an apex barrel cuz i hear they're awesome

Apex's are cool, to be sure. But "awesome" is not the word I'd use to describe one.

Would you say the Apex Tip on a Palmers or Barrel kit with a quality matching paintball is "awesome"?

That would qualify as "really cool", but still not "awesome". "Awesome" is nothing shy of something like Marballizer or Tremor through a very nice kit like a Scepter. To make an Apex "Awesome", you'd need a UMS adapter to bolt it to something like a Freak AA or an Elite kit.

yea thats a good deal. i bought my a5 brand new with a remote line a 20oz and a mask for like $218. and the paint if anything it will be good for you to just get use to the gun with. and you can also decied if you like that paint for it or if you need to get a different brand.

DO IT, just change the barrel if it's still the stock one on it (8") and go for a 14 - 16" and you will enjoy it.
