Who is leaving Paintball Dojo? I, personally, would stay but most of the other members are leaving so I would just be stuck with not too many people. I can't believe people are too cheap to spend $4 a month!
Does anyone here use PBD besides me? Are you staying or leaving? Most of the other members are going to IPR or PBnation.

It's not the $4, it is the fact that there are other free sites that have the potential... I personally won't contribute $4 to post an opinion on something when this site and others are free!

I dont know, I'll see what everyone else on my team is doin. On one hand I sympathise with Jim for going broke trying to keep the site going, but hey there's others that go broke and dont go chargin money (Andrew), and 4 dollars a month with the amount of users they have, sounds like someone needs to make payments on more than just the servers, maybe his gold plated ferari he's gonna buy after this deal goes through, I dunno.

It sounds like a lot but, servers cost A LOT. Plus you have to pay for Bandwidth which is a lot depending on your set up. You have to pay for a connection to the internet or to be real safe, so the site will not go down you need a multi line which is 2 connections to the internet (extra one is backup for when the first one goes down). Also when you have a big site you need a building where you can keep you stuff. The building needs to stay at 70 degrees, 24-7. Also you have to pay extra for the space because, it comes with back up generators incase the power goes down. There is more but I am tired of typing! You get the point.

Well, do you know how hard it is to find a sponsor that has something in common with paintball & has money for advertisement? Most companies with a lot of money use tv ads or mags. I think people with PB sites should sell PB stuff online also. Put stuff on for $4 over cost. You don't have to stock stuff the manufacture will send it out for you. They do for the shop in my town. I would buy at least 1 thing a month! How about you?

ok, there are 15,489 registered users on paintballdojo.com... IF they keep all their users they will be making $61,956 a month in revenue! even if they keep only 10% of their current members, they will be making $6,195 a month, that's $73,347 a year at 10% of the current users they have.... if he keeps all his users (which won't happen) the site's revenue will be $743,472 a year! Sounds like a rip off to me...

Have you looked at the amount of advertising paintball companies spend in magazines, and I know some of those PB mags can't boast the subsription numbers that PBDojo has ... it seems to me that if they wanted to bring advertisers on, they could easily do it.
Plus, look at the marketing segment ... Most Dogo users are in the 15 to 25 age group ... perfect target market for Coke, Pepsi, Pizza Hut, Tower Records, etc. With as many subscribers has Dojo has, and as many hits as it gets everyday, he should be able to hit up the big boys for ad dollars.

This tells me that he does not have that great of a host! If you want the big boys like Coke, Pepsi, Pizza Hut, Tower Records, etc. You need a very stable environment for your servers. You can have only very little down time. It sucks but it is true.

If you go with a big host $6,195 a month is not that much money. That will rent you a 5 foot by 7 foot cage to keep your stuff. You will also get your internet connection. Unless he is a network engineer he will have to spend money ($350 Hr) on that labor if something goes wrong. He will only get a few hours of that free each month.

i myself wouldn't pay it, i dont think they could get 15% to stay at 4 bucks a month with all the alternatives around.
