Bucket paint is usually crap and only good for practice and that's barely IMO. Not only are the balls probably low quality but they're also just dumped in there and have a higher chance of breaking or being broke from the start and being dimpled and misshapen.

EDIT: I think this pretty much answers your question again. Paint: bucket or box? (http://www.pbreview.com/forums/showthread.php?t=432219&highlight=bucket)

read somewhere they are packaged in bubble wrap and in 500 count bags. would that make a difference. the balls got decent reviews but was for 500 count in box.

Yeah paint that comes in bucket is always a bad idea unless you are just going to shoot it at a board for target practice
