Ok I like to play as an aggressive front man (but I never really go for the flag) I have about $500 to spend and already have a revy and nitro from my Spyder, so should I go for an impy or cocker. I need a gun that is dependable!! If you know of something better let me know too, I'm open to suggestions

impy

It Should also be noted that I will not get the chance to fire either gun, the best gun that I have ever seen at my local Field was a Tippmann 98 W/nitro and a boom stick
You should try a search. I'm sure there's pleanty of other threads with the plus and minus' of the autococker and impulse, or even a thread that is also entitled "cocker vs. pulse".

I would say impy, but i am biased. The impulse is a lot lighter than a cocker, probably more reliable too. The impy has a higher rate of fire, but is probably less accurate. It really matters what they feel like to you.
I was looking at a cocker, but I went with the impulse because it is very good stock. With nitro the impy should just be ******. If you nitro is adjustable I would consider the cocker more carefully. I would suggest going and looking at the various reviews and make a list of pros and cons for each marker. Make your decision off of that. Also list upgrades that you will do to each marker. You can probably figure out which is more cost efficient. Hope that helps.

I just noticed that you have a 9v revvy. You may be able to out shoot that with the impy. Just something to think about.

The Problem I have with reading the reviews around here is that it is impossible to find a good one, all of them are biased or just some deadbeat that gives every marker that he/she reviews a 1 or a 10, NO MARKER IS A, 10 NOTHING IS PERFECT!!! at least no nearly as many as I am seeing on this site!:peace:

yea. my advice is just ignore those and look at the ones in the middle. They tend to be the best. Try to find the flaws in each marker.

I can tell you some flaws in both.
Cocker:
can be short stroked
slower
if it gets messed up, there's no GOOD proshop, and no one who
REALLY knows cockers, good luck getting it shooting like new again
harder on paint stock
a stock cocker or sto has a carbon fiber gripframe stock (yuck)
Impulse:
stock trigger not adjustable
sometimes 1st shot won't come out of the barrel (low velocity) after you lay it down for a while (i've heard this can be helped with a voodoo full flow)
tall
has some kick stock
more expensive
GOOD STUFF
Cocker:
no kick
easy to aim
extremely upgradeable
Impulse:
MAXFLO
high rof
very upgradeable www.e-paintballoutlet.com
almost never chops
very reliable and easy to work on
I reccomend the Impulse. I had one. There were some things I didn't like about it, and I like cockers, so I switched to a cocker. I just sold the cocker (black magic) and I'm getting a new (more upgraded) Impulse. (This is just my opinion of course.)

I own a cocker and my Impulse is on the way. The Cocker is a great Marker, but you have to learn how to adjust it. Its not hard to learn, but totally different from what you are use to (sypder). When I was playing back, my Cocker did very well. I could fling paint all the way across the field and hit my target. Now I'm playing front and I find that I need something that can spray paint at a closer target. I know there is still a lot of front players that play with a Cocker, but most that I have played with and watched are using Angels, Impulses, Tribals, Bushmasters and others. And I feel this for the speed factor. As a front player, my back man tells when, and where to pop out and shoot and my mark is mostly close by.
When spending hard earned money, I think you really need to try them out. Go to your Local field and ask the other players if you can try their guns. Paintball Players are a great group and they will help you get the right Marker.
Good Luck

If you get the impulse a good way to get rid of the low velocity first shot is really lube up your marker and manually slide the bolt back and forth for like 10 min. Do it while watching TV or something. I did it and I had no problems.

You answered your own question. Nothing against cockers but I've found imps to be trusty as heck, and absoultly rip. Get a vert maxflo blade trigger imp from www.e-paintballoutlet.com and you'll be set!
