I was told if you send a package marked as a "gift" then it will be excluded from all customs charges.
Is this true. If not can someone tell me how to evade customs charges?
Thanx

I think you're referring to duty charges... if so, declaring something as a gift will allow you up to $60 of duty free value. If it's worth more than $60, you'll be charged duty on the difference. Also, if the product is manufactured in the US, there is no duty.
You cannot legally avoid paying duty and tax, but there are way around it. If you order from some places (e-mail me and I'll tell you who), they will "adjust" the declared value of the package on shipping forms.
Example (these numbers are all arbitrary):
You order a regulator.
Value = $100 (this is what is charged to you credit card)
Value as declared on packing slip/customs form = $20
declared as gift = $0 duty charged
And for a declared value of $20, you don't get hit with duty charges. You may have to pay GST, but not always.
Not many places will do this, e-mail me if you want more info. BTW, I'm assuming your talking about buying in the US and shipping to Canada.

Yeah I live in Canada and when I see the prices in Canada versus the converted prices in USA. The US prices are a lot cheaper.
I planned to order off ebay to buy a N2 tank for about the final price of $135.
The guy said they would mark my package as a gift. So im guessing it will evade customs charges.
The last time i ordered from the USA was when i tried to order my starter package (32 degrees rebel package). The first thing that went wrong was the web site changed the product prices on me which went up about $50. Then customs chagres sends me a $150 bill!!!! Holy crap, my rebel starter package with a brass eagle mask, 9onz tank, and rebel cost over $500 Canadian!:pissed:

If you don't mind me asking... how much did you pay for your Autococker at Skyball? I bought a new purple 2002 Impulse at the show... there were some nice deals. I'm trying to convince my back player to buy a 'cocker.

I know... me too. Facetious inflection doesn't come across well on a message board.
