i think it should be in the olympics. i dont know if they will put in in though, because the games dont last all that long. but on the other hand, curling & skeet shooting are in the olympics & i dont see how those are sports.

Nah, there isn't really any reason to do it, and it just doesn't seem to fit in the olympics. Especially with the amount of bad sportsmanship and cheating that goes on

I dont think they should have it. They wouldnt allow games with guns or violance like this

I don't think they want to give kids the idea if you shoot someone there not really dead.

People Think the sport is way too white trashy. And it seems like there arn't many olympic sports that are "violent" towards other people. Wrestling is about the only one. And there is way too much technology. Too many non human factors.

Don't want to disgrace the olympics with all the piss poor sports we have.

i definitely think it should be in the X games. but there is WAY too much technology involved to be an olympic sport. most sports in the olympics use certain standards. if paintball was an olympic sport everyone would have to use the same type of gun, paint, harness, mask, pods, tanks, and so on... it's just way too complicated of a game to be an olympic event

well, would I like to see it one day, Yes. Will it happen, not a chance in h***. If they did, something like a standard field layouts and rules and da** good reffing would be required.

course, and I should be the captian! LOL

exactly. in fact i feel this is the reason that paintball isn't on TV more, there is a massive amount of cussing, vulgarity (sp?), and just plain ol' carelessness on tournament fields. if players (not all, but alot) straightened up there act and were a little more civil and appropriate, maybe. but i still dont think it has a place in the olympics, though it would be cool to see it on ESPN . . .

The only way it would make X-games, let allone the Olympics, would be Stock Class. (takes a lot of the edge out of the differeng markers...)

The only time I hear people cussing is on Paintball vidoes with profesionals playing. People dont really during the game where I paintball but maybe after the game they would say something like... "i cant belive that s***" or something like that.

I think this poll should be, Do you think paintball would a good olympic sport? Everyone that likes paintball would say yes, like potties say majauna should be legal or graffiti should be legal.
You need a good reason why it should be legal not just because you like it.

i say X-games, Olympics are boring as hell anyway (besides hockey of course)

marijuana SHOULD be legal, reason. it's safer than cigarretes because you don't chain smoke it and it's also not addictive in the least bit. you can also drive perfectly fine when your high, your motor control is still intact unlike with alcohol. pot doesn't make you feel sick, and you can't overdose on it like alcohol or any other drug, it would take 40,000 times the amount of pot you need to get high to kill you, thus you would die of smoke inhalation before you died of the actual drug. marijuana is the safest controlled substance out there yet it's illegal in most parts of the world, this makes no since.

Dude, lets not start this arguement, cause yes it does effect your motor skills, else you wouldn't feel relaxed or high, and yes it can be adictive to those who abuse it.

Ebonclaw
03-15-2002, 12:18 PM
Yeah. It's not addictive. That's why I have a friend who's tried to quit 4 times and can't.

I know, I really hate the stuff but I didn't want to start an arguement. I have known a couple people who quit and quit good, never started back up again. Point is to me, why do something that only makes you THINK you feel good? Go out and do something instead.

Ded
03-15-2002, 01:36 PM
ok, i'll admit, it's a mental addiction. i too know many people that have tried to quit but just didn't go through with it. they just don't WANT to stop. also about the motor skill thing, it really does affect motor skills the first few times but if you have a built up tolerance to it then it doesn't, i know many people also that can drive fine and do any other task you ask them to do while high. i'm just saying that it's not as bad for you as smoking or drinking.

2k1AngelShooter
03-15-2002, 04:40 PM
Ha, see you've won (sort of) the arguement about it being better than drinking or cigarettes because I like neither of them as well. I've seen to many good people screw themselves up on all of the substances. The thing about the resistance is true except then you smoke more to get the same feeling, hence screwing up your motor skills.

But, I'm not going to preach, what ever floats your boat. All I know is if I started smoking (cigarettes) and drinking I'd have a heartattack out the next time I went to play paintball! Sucks being fat

Yes it should be an Olympic Sport, or at least recognized by the IOC. FOR GOD SAKES... Ballroom dancing and Chess are recognized.

If paintball were to become an Olympic sport it would have to be limited paint.

LIke 5-Man teams, 200 Rds, 4-5Minute games.

Well, I'm not totally against it.....but I can't see why soemone would spend $50 or something and then wake up not remembering anything about it. It's like throwing away $50 before you go to bed to have a dream you won't remember. Go figure. I'd buy a Talon and play till I bunkered someone with an Angel. Now THAT'S a $50 I'd remember.

Too much technology in PB to be an Olympic sport? Give me a break. Take a look at the Biathlon in the Winter Olympics. Most of those guys are shooting Anschütz .22lr rifles that are so tricked out it isn't even funny. They don't order their gun from a catalog, they go to a dealer and get fitted for it. They buy their rifles in pieces and have an armorer put them together.

Check out an Anschütz brochure sometime, they've got so many accessories for each gun it'll drive you wild. Most of these rifles cost around $12k and up. Imagine spending $12,000 on a rifle that you're only going to shoot 10 to 20 times in an Olympic competition.

Anschütz also makes compressed air rifles that run anywhere from $2k to $7k depending on what you want.

just to set the record straight, marijuana is more harmful than cigarettes because they are unfiltered. that doesnt mean that cigarettes are safe, but they will take a lil longer to kill...which they will

just a common misconception....

Thats true to the last two posts. Ok, god I know those rifles are insane, absoulutly no recoil at all!!!

Course if they wanted to make it challeneging they should be doing it with Barret .50 cals slung to their shoulder (like 30 pounds) and have to shoot em prone!!! GOd, then only Mr. T could compete!
