DONTEATPAINT

I just received my Zero Kick Hammer from Tech T for my Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum ACT. I installed it yesterday without any problems but now the paint only flies like 10 feet! All the other internals are stock. Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be? I found out that the Zero Kick eliminates the ACT function and I had to take out the ACT spring for it to work but that shouldn’t be the problem. THX

I recommend you call customer service for Tech T at 901-405-1848. I suspect what you probably did was switch the drive spring with the cocking spring. As I have no experience w/ ACT I can't tell you for sure what is going on.

You might need to look into replacing your main spring. With a lighter hammer you have a lot less force opening the valve, which will mean a lot less air.
I haven't used the Zero Kick Hammer, but what did you do when you installed it? Did you have to replace the drive spring or any of the springs in the valve train? Also, what lube did you use?
Edit: From the TechT site:
Marker will not achieve high enough FPS.
1. The Zero Kick Hammer is not designed to shoot over 300 FPS. Thats not to say it can't. If your velocity is low try opening up your velocity adjusting screw (counter clockwise) so that the power tube is wide open. Totally removing the screw will allow air to escape, hense lowering your velocity. So keep the screw in place, just back it out. Also, if you have a rear velocity adjuster try screwing it all the way in. (Clockwise)
2. Change your hammer spring to a stiffer one. Again, we are now packaging all hammers with the spring, but if yours didnt come with a spring you can contact us and we will send you one for free.

The Zero Kick Hammer isn't designed for the A.C.T.

Nah, that thing's annoyingly durable. I've never been able to tear one, and believe me, I've put it in backwards more than my fair share of times.
