If you are a newbie and you are getting your first marker, most likely it will be a blow-back. (Unless your parents baby you around still, no offence) Here is all the info you'll need about blowbacks.

--------------INTRO----------------
Blowbacks are usually comprised of a very simple interior mechanism.
Here is a simple detail of what happens.

1.)You cock the marker
2.)The hammer and bolt are brought back
3.)When you pull the trigger, the sear releases the hammer and bolt
4.)The hammer hits the valve pin and releases a burst of gas (CO2 or Compressed Air) which travels up into the bottom of the bolt and the burst of gas hits the paintball when the bolt is moving forward, causing the paintball to burst forward.
(Not 100% sure, correct me if I'm wrong on this one)
5.)The blow-back (hence the name) happens after steps 1-4 have been completed....A little bit of gas at a high pressure hits the hammer and the whole process is repeated...

------------------DETAILED DESCRIPTION----------------
When you cock your marker back, the
HAMMER and BOLT are pulled back.
They stay back because of the SEAR that holds the HAMMER and BOLT . There is a SPRING that fits part-way into the BOLT which forces the HAMMER and BOLT to go forward, but only to be held back by the SEAR . When you pull the TRIGGER , the SEAR releases the HAMMER and BOLT which travel forward. When the HAMMER and BOLT make it to the part of the marker which is the VALVE the HAMMER strikes the VALVE PIN and a burst of GAS (CO2 or COMPRESSED AIR) travels up a hole in the VALVE and goes into a little hole in the bottom of the BOLT . By now a paintball should be loaded in the chamber, if not, see troubleshooting later on in this post. The burst of GAS hits the paintball and the BOLT pushes the paintball a little further before the GAS does the rest of the job by pushing the paintball through the BARREL and toward your target. To get the BLOW-BACK feature, a small amount of GAS pushes the HAMMER and BOLT back until the SEAR catches the HAMMER and BOLT . Then the process is repeated.....

------------------------MORE INFO------------------------
When the hammer hits the valve pin and pushed it backwards, the CUPSEAL is also pushed back and therefore GAS is let in. When the VALVE STEM and CUPSEAL are pushed back into their original spot, GAS flow is cut-off. Creating no leaks.

HELP!!!!!!! When I screw in my tank, I hear leaking coming out of my marker!

HAVE YOU COCKED YOUR MARKER BACK BEFORE SCREWING IN YOUR TANK? THAT COULD BE THE REASON WHY IT'S LEAKING. TRY THAT.....IF THAT DOESN'T HELP, CHECK YOUR HOSES AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE TIGHT. USE SOME KIND OF PLUMBING TAPE OR LOCK-TITE TO SEAL THE HOSE.

HELP!!!!!!! When I screw in my tank, I hear gas coming out of the barrel!

CHECK YOUR CUPSEAL. IT IS INSIDE YOUR VALVE (PART WHERE YOU SCREW IN YOUR TANK/EXPANSION CHAMBER/OR HOSE). IT IS A LITTLE PLASTIC PIECE THAT SHOULD BE TOWARD THE END OF THE VALVE PIN. (AWAY FROM THE BARREL). IF IT IS DAMAGED, CALL YOUR PRODUCT'S COMPANY TECH SUPPORT AND ASK THEM TO SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT ONE RIGHT AWAY. MOST LIKELY YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE MARKER UNTIL THE NEW PART ARRIVES.

If we get enough good replies, can we get this stickied????? Thanks....

I might add some more stuff later when I think of it...

If I had a digital camera, I would take a pic of my rebel in the process of firing. But I don't have one so I can't.......Will someone help me out here?

Umm, using loctite on the hose threads would be a rather bad idea. Loctite is a thread locker, not a sealant, and that stuff does run a bit, hence possibility of getting into the air passages not worth the risk.

Stick with teflon tape.

Isn't there some kind of loctite stuff that is like teflon tape?
