First off, I am a total nube, but very excited about my new hobby.
I recently purchased my own ATB with a 12 oz tank, and got a chance to use it against my buddies. I'm so happy with my purchase. We play woodsball, and go between actual woods to urban area scenarios.
My question is concerning a purchase of a remote. I want to keep my ATB looking and feeling real, and so I would like to get rid of the bottle on the back of the grip. From the expert's (definitely you all) persepective, what do I gain, and what do I lose by purchasing a bigger tank and connecting it to a remote?

Remote line:
Weight off the gun but now on you (vest is recommended over a pod pack)
Gun no longer free but tethered to you.
Extra space for Co2 to expand into a gas for better performance.
You can use a bigger tank without weighing the gun down.
If you do get a remote line, get one without a slide check (more trouble than their worth), and get a Palmers 1/8" ball valve to install on it. With the valve, you will be able to turn off the Co2 supply to the gun without the hassle of the on/off ASA that's hard to reach and with simply shooting the stored pressure in the gun, disconnect the remote line from the gun without pulling apart your entire remote line assembly (play without a valve on the remote line and then with and you will instantly know what I mean).
A remote line has its advantages and disadvantages. I typically use a remote line and have a custom setup for an extra long hose and run double 48oz Co2 tanks and use a Palmers on/off valve (worth every penny). There are time where I will not use the remote line and just put the tank on the gun (I get funny looks with a 3lb Co2 tank on the gun thats practically bigger than the gun).

i have an alpha black thats got quite a few customizations, including the remote line. although it is not even near the most 'awesome' mod, it certainly, for me, is the most helpful, especially on the alpha black. the alpha black is a crazy heavy gun with or without mods, and the remote line can really cut that in half. i feel that you have more mobility with the remote line, because the Co2 tank is not blocking your arm from going between the tank and the stock, and again, its simply lighter. i definately recommend a remote line. i also recommend a longer, lighter barrel. helps alot for me. (dont go crazy with like a 21" just like 14 or 15")

Thanks guys! I went with a remote and a 14" J&J barrel. The remote has made a big difference in my playing style, and the barrel is super accurate. It is so much easier to low crawl when you aren't fighting an air cylinder on the back rear of the marker!
