well.....unfortunately...
all electro modes except normal semi is prohibited at all the paintball fields near me. no turbo, no RT, no full auto, no shot burst...only regular SEMI. i was considering on a tribal bbt or tribal twister rather than a cocker...cuz if you pay...70$ more...u can get the tribals. but...i called up and emailed the fields.....to my disgust..."nothing but regular semi auto" so...basically electros are a waste. plus...i asked about tourneys and if electro modes are allowed at tourneys...still "no, only semi auto" anyone have a reason to still get an electro...or should i not even consider it and stick with gettin a cocker?

You can get a much shorter and lighter trigger pull with an electronic marker than is possible with a non electronic marker. Electronic markers have a higher rate of fire (just in semi-mode, if you have a fast enough trigger finger you can make use of this) because the opening and closing of valves and any other timing involved is all done electronically and thus the timing is easier to keep precise. An autococker however can fire fairly fast if you know your gun and can get the timing done real well, but unlike an electronic gun, an autococker could shortstroke if you are firing very fast and you fail to pull the trigger all the way. If you try an electronic marker you'll see a difference in Rate of Fire right away. Most of the people who flame on electronic markers and will tell you they suck and are worthless are people who have an unfair bias against them for god knows what reason.

Me Defiant's trigger pull is so insignificant that I can Tap the side of the trigger (where there is normally play) and shoot really fast. I personally think I can fire faster in semi than full auto :)

because the cocker is soo...sophisticated and hard to maintain...u think i should buy an electro instead?? im willing to take care of a gun, clean it, and etc..unless it is as hard as the cocker. all those pneumatics....moving parts.....even though i am mechanically/technically inclined...i dont wanna spend too much time taking care of all that. o yea......do tribals only run on nitro?? dats another thing....i can afford a 400$ tribal...but i dont know if i can spend another 200-300 on nitro....plus paint and upgrades...
Caring for a cocker is no different than caring for an electro, or any other gun. Problems only come in when you get upgrade happy. If you change something on your cocker, you have to take the time to make sure that everything is timed properly again. It's no Tippman/Spyder, but it also out preforms them both by leaps and bounds. It's not as bad as some make it out to be, electro's can be a pain that way too.
Tribals only run on Compressed Air according to their web site.

A cocker isn't hard to maintain. It's the people that screw with them and don't time them correctly that give them a bad rep. An electro gun, like mentioned earlier, does require some maintenance, not matter how little. For example I have never broken my Defiant (same as a BM2K) down to it's simplest parts, EVER. The most I have done is replace the reg and take out the ram and bolt for normal cleaning. I have treated it about the same as I would a spyder or other simple marker and it works fine. Just because you are getting a high level marker doesn't mean you have to put a lot of maintenance time into it.

I never said anything close to cockers being hard to maintain so get an electro, where you're getting taht idea I cant possibly imagine. I said you can shortstroke a cocker and that's very very true no matter how you look at it. My argument for electro's is that the timing is more precise because all the steps in firing the marker are triggered by way of a computer (usually opening solenoid valves) and that allows for significantly more precision. The only real exception to electros being hands down faster than mechanicaly operated markers is the Automag RT, that thing is damn fast, but as a general rule of thumb, electros are faster.

The reason that people get semis instead of pump guns is you can fire faster with a semi. 2 shots per second as opposed to 5-8 shots per second. Now people buy electirc guns instead of semis for the same reasons that semis are better then pump guns. They fire quicker. You can get 6 shots per second more out of any electro gun. It doesnt really matter if you cant fire in full electric hybrid reactive trigger mode! You will be able to reach 10-13bps in plane semi mode. If the rate of fire doesnt matter to you then you should go with a cocker. But if you like to spray paint all over the field, you will be very happy with a tribal or a defiant.
