Basically, I want to start playing woodsball at a local place. I have played 3-4 times and have only handled rental Tippmann 98 Custom's. I need advice on a good beginner gun and other equipment.
Budget: up to $500-600
I have no gear yet.
I will mainly be playing woodsball only.
The features I want in my gun are: reliability, good accuracy, whether or not the gun has burst or full auto ability does not matter to me, i just want a decent marker that i can upgrade if needed that won't have problems out of the box.
I would definitely be open to buying a used marker.
HELP ME.

Along with good gun advice, any other advice on any other beginner equipment would be great.

smart parts vibe ($150)
20oz CO2 tank ($20)
reliable mask (about $30-50)
egg or any other viewloader hopper except the quantum ($30-70)
a vertical harness ($20)
pods ($2 each)

that will keep you going for a while. all prices were taken off of firstcallpaintball.com. thats the site i use because it is local but those prices should be about the same anywhere.

yea but it cant run on co2 so you'd need to spend more on a hp tank

The Vibe is probably the best value you can get for a new paintballer. It's the only electro that's both CO2 compatible and priced for the new player. And when it comes to performance, electros are almost always better than mechanical blowbacks, no matter how many upgrades you have on the mech.

The only real competition in this category for the Vibe is the the SP1. That's because the SP1 is the same marker just with a different body.

all these guys are right about how the vibe is a good gun, but honestly u really would be better off gettin an ion xe and spending the extra money on a nitro tank.. co2 fluctuates too much and if u start rippin on ur gun then its more than likely gonna freeze up on you.. and u can pick up a used nitro tank in great condition between the price of $60-90.. this is just my opinion but if ur gonna do it then spend the lil extra money and do it right.

They've done freeze tests on the Vibe and it's regulator, and it's VERY difficult to freeze it up. It gets very cold, but it still operates just fine. And with the reg on there, the pressure fluctuation of CO2 isn't an issue.

yeah it runs fine with co2 but he probably should save a little more and get a stellie or something cause air tops co2 no matter the gun

09 proto slg-$199
68/4500 tank-$140
Invert too loader-$60
Invert Helix mask-$35
NXe 4+1-$30
And with the rest of the cash you could get a decent pair of pants and a jersey.

Proto SLG < Invert Mini < DP G3

Of course, that's only my opinion. It's just coincidence that my opinion happens to be correct.

The real problem with these choices is that they require the use of HPA, which is a rather expensive initial investment. And that's not even considering the availability of fills. CO2 is generally the preferred gas for beginners, if only because of how cheap it is.
