i'm thinking of putting down my a-5 and picking up an sp-1. my a-5 has got a full techt cyclone upgrade, tech-t fang trigger, and a stiffi barrel for performance upgrades. and several other look/feel upgrades that aren't worth mentioning.

if i keep this a-5 i will get a palmers stabilizer, techt zero kick and the new e-trigger. i run co2 cuz no one close fills HPA. those three alone will run me 275$.

i can get an sp-1 with a nice barrel and loader for the same cash. not sure which route to take. the a-5 with the mentioned upgrades would be sweet. but i could have a second marker that is sweet for the same cash. any input?

In my opinion, the Tech-T hammer is not worth the money, I have tried it and it does feel good when shooting but its not really worth the cost in my opinion. A cheaper alternative to the E-grip is the Response trigger but you would have to check if its allowed at the field you play at. A stabilizer is a great upgrade especially if your running Co2.

Getting the Sp-1 may be the better alternative for you but since you are using Co2 only, I suggest getting a stabilizer for it to run Co2 without the possibility of destroying the internals.

Id leave the A5 as is, put it on the bench as a backup, or for days you just have the want to use it.

SP1 is a excellent gun, just slap a new barrel on it and your good to go.

I'm gonna have to agree with Ambush here. Pop a barrel on an SP-1 and go to town. One day down the road, the battery in your SP-1 is gonna die, and you're gonna realize that you've forgotten to bring spares. And on that day, you'll pick up your A-5 to take back into battle. And then, unfortunately, you'll come to the realization of just how inferior your A-5 really is. And while you will have fond memories of it, you will never want to use it again. You'll actually rather skip a day at the field than use it. And you'll feel both sad and empowered. And it is on that day that you'll truly become enlightened.

And then one day even further down the road, you'll buy your first air tank and your first purpose-built EP, and you'll never look back.

Corrupt has spoken, and so shall it come to pass.

i've heard the sp1 should be ok with c02. it comes with a nice reg according to techpb. and according to SP's website the reg exhausts built up pressure when liquid gets in.

what barrel would anyone endorse? i'd like a stiffi but they don't make SP threaded barrels. i'd like to try a freak with the all american apex ready front, with the apex tip

I like the Empire barrel 2 piece barrel kit as I modified my apex tip to fit on the back. I get a barrel kit and apex tip and its all less than 8" long.

Palmers has good barrels.

It appears that PPS does indeed make Smart Parts threaded barrels. In the experiences I've had, the Palmer's Brass is one of the best shooting (albeit heaviest) single bore barrels out there. The only better shooters I've used have been full on kits.

The SP-1 is purpose build to accept Co2, the regulator also acts as an expansion chamber in its design, and has an exaust to vent the Co2 spikes. Also the board has a setting to adjust the dwell and everything else for the Co2. So it is completely Co2 compatable.

As for the choice of getting a SP-1 or upgrading your A5 i would without a doubt get the SP-1. You can upgrade everything in the A5 and make it work the best it ever phsyically could be, and it still wouldn't even be in the same legue as the SP-1.

I believe the SP-1 is the best woodsball marker out there under the $1000 mark.

Not even close.

not even close as in it's not even close to being the best woodsball marker under 1000$? or nothing else competes with it for the price? IMO 1000 for any marker is a tad high. maybe best woodsball marker under 500.

As in: if I had a grand to throw away on a marker that I'd use in the woods, there are probably a dozen markers I'd buy before the Vibe/SP-1.

Is the M-Tac under a grand? Or maybe wait for a Tactical Drone. Bob Long and/or MacDev sexiness FTW.

Or you could just buy a black (insert high-end setup) and skip the whole milsim deal in favor of just having a gun that melts faces.

Exactly the marker I was thinking. Compulsive has it listed as under $1000... with a whole five dollars and five cents to spare. That'll buy you an entire air fill at my local proshop.

Action Village does too, I just wasn't 100% when I posted, I went and looked almost immediately after.

It's a Bob Long Marq, of course it's amazing. Marqs are sex personified in aluminum.

The Tactical Drone is a another fine product from our friends 'down under' at MacDev. They also make the Cyborg and the Droid.

The Drone is basically a Droid inside, isn't it? Like the M-tac is a Marq with rails.

Allegedly it's not, at least that's what the thread in PBN's news section says. Whether or not that's true reamains to be seen. I can't imagine that it's terribly different from the Droid, but you never know, MacDev has always gone their own way.

Go with the sp-1. I had an a-5 that i put over 800 into, a mixture of looks as well as all the techt upgrades, egrip, bolt and aluminum tube, etc. I wasnt satisfied with the performance so i sold it and got the sp-1. I will never own another tippmann, this thing owns tippmanns. Its light, quiet, efficient (techpb says it has the luxe reg on it) and solid. Its amazing man,
