Im looking into a nitro tank that works good and is a screw in. Im not sure if i want 88cu or 64 cu, but i know i want it to be 4500 psi. My gun operates at 300 psi, so could ne one tell me how many shots id get out of these tanks, and how good these tanks are, ive heard good thing,s, and there not that much.,

i get about 500-550 shots on my 48 3000 psipe.you probably get 900 shots w/ the 68 4500psi.

im not sure if there are any screw in 4500psi tanks? none that i can think of.

double check to make sure you can get your tank filled to 4500 psi at your field or fill station as well. If they only are able to fill up to 3000 the 4500 will be useless.
and they make 4500 psi screw ins- here is one.

I have a 68ci preset pmi steel tank....and it has treated me very well. No complaints.

why do u want a screw in dude? mounted tanks are traditionally better. BTW nice job A Damn Fool. 1000 post and all good too. im still happy about 300!
mighty_mace
04-24-2001, 06:09 PM
what makes the mounted tanks better than the screw in's?
blinkpk11
04-24-2001, 06:26 PM
Just look at the mounted tanks and the screw ins:
mounted:
AGD flatline
AA raptor, armagedon, apacolipse
AIR
Hyperflows (I think?)
SP Maxflows
Screw ins:
crossfire
PMI tanks
ANS tanks
ACI bulldog (ACI, please stop producing nitro tanks and save your reputaion as a company, thank you)
AA melee (i own one and i love it. my screw in rewcomendation.)
the screw ins are nice, but the mounted tanks have much better regulators on them. Screwins are great as a beginning tank, but at some point as u become a tourny player, a mounted tank will be needed for use on todays fast firing elctros. I have a melee and it keeps up with my ELCD, but id still love an AGD flatline tank. Id get a flatline if i were u. ive heard nothing but good things.

ya i guess...but he's putting it on a shutter. It's probably his first nitro tank so he's probably not going to want to spend 350 dollars or more on a tank. I agree the regs are better....but like you said, when your just beginning to look at nitro, a cheaper screw-in is not a bad choice, and the performance isn't bad at all.
A damn fool
04-25-2001, 11:33 AM
exaclty, i dont want to spend over 300 dollars on this tank, i mean, eventually im going to be buying a better gun, as soon as my tourney team starts geting better, but untill now, my shutter works incredibly well. I want a 4500 psi tank, and im thinking 88 cu, but im not sure if that will be too big. Since my gun is lp, i know that recharging for the tank is gonna be hell, so will the pmi tank work ok? How many shots will i get out of the pmi 884500 psi tank if i poperate at 300psi? And has ne one heard ne thign about the java air systems? are they ne gfood?

Pure Energy tanks are nothing to scoff at. Alot of people use them on high end guns (Aftershock for instance) and I can personally vouch for it's performance. Under the most strenous conditions (14 bps full auto) I havent seen any shootdown whatsoever, so I'd reccomend it any day

04-25-2001, 12:32 PM
Thanks for the info, thats probaly the tank ill end up getting, but im stil not sureoon the size, and how many shots ill get, Can someone compare the 88 and 64 cu tank to like a 20 ounce co 2 tank?
Richy_C
04-25-2001, 12:38 PM
not sure about that but i say, uf you are getting a preset dual regulat, but you already have a rag, get a new vigi though, a ton better now that you've go(ing)ne nitro
A damn fool
04-25-2001, 12:46 PM
i thought the pmi reg worked fine with n2? well, mabye ill buy one later on, but for now, that reg will work, fine, right?
mighty_mace
04-25-2001, 01:12 PM
yea ur pmi reg will be fine. I use one as well with my 68ci pmi preset. No problems at all and i don't notice any difference at all between it and my vigi.

blinkpk11
04-25-2001, 07:09 PM
hmm maybe i should get me a pmi tank instead of that flat line? well i better wait because im stuck with my 48ci Melee right now. i get about 350 shots from a 48 on my stock flow shutter. gotta get a new valve so i can accually use my LP Vigi. hehe

A damn fool
04-27-2001, 01:43 PM
ok, then ill need the 68 cu, but i still need to know how many shots il get out of it if its 4500, 68cu, and i operate at 300psi, does ne one know?
Richy_C
04-27-2001, 01:48 PM
10 shots per CU at 3000 15 at 4500 so u'r looking at well over 1200 shots

Never ever get an 88ci unless you're a total boner. Either a 68 or a 114. Why? Because the width of a tank isnt gonna matter much, it's all in the length. Whatever bonehead came up with this, I dont know, but an 88 is just as long as a 114, only skinnier, so you'd might as well just get the 114 and get the extra shots for essentially the same size. A couple companies do it differently, but the majority use this stupid sizing system

Boner is a bad word, Im telling my mommy on you :)
A damn fool
04-29-2001, 02:53 PM
but on the pmi tanks, isnt it true that the 88 is jsut a thicker 68? it says that on paintballgear, and i saw one of them today, they werent that long.

actually i have a pmi 88ci/4500psi tank for my 2k1 angel... it gives me around 2400 shots.... or basically a case of paint... now for a spyder it should give you about 1320 - 1760 shots... how did i get 1320... well 15 shots per cubic inch 15 x 88 = 1320, 20 x 88 = 1760... usually most guns with get above average results from a compressed air tank depending on how your setup works... with me the last time i checked i got 2054 shots, with 400-500 psi left... and thats filled up to 4000 psi... also i am a front player... this tank is the size of 68, and a inch, but the dia. of a 114. these tanks makes very good for front/mid/ & back players... team aftershock uses this tank... its a good tank... with a above average recharge rate of most presets... the difference in presets and adjustable... is consistency... most high end guns now comes stock with a reg... so this consistency shouldn't be a problem at all...

i plan on buying it, i saw the tnak with someone using it with there angel, so i figured id buy this one becaue it wast that big. However, my guin operats at 300psi, so itsa lot lower then the average spyder, so how many shots would i get with this tank if i operate at 300psi?
Also, i am trying to sell ym shutter, and im thinkg bout a sto cocker. How many shots coudl i get with htis gun?
filasophikal
05-05-2001, 12:07 PM
lets just say, you should be able to empty a case of paint with an stock sto autococker... with a pmi 88/4500 tank, but it all depends on your setup...

i'm planning to get one too..i've changed my gun once again..SLeeper F/X cocker wOoHoO~~ wait till i'm done with that gun..:D:D anywayz, yea...i talked to Opie from Image, he sed that th PMI was a great tank to use.

ok, im pissed, ordered the tank, etc, got the drop forward, bt the tank is on backorder, so now ihave to wait to get it. Im so pisied off.
filasophikal
05-08-2001, 02:18 PM
that suxs... where you order it from? the cheapest online is xpaintball.com (279.99 + s/h) and and skanline.com ((264.99 + s/h - if you live in cali + tax), i ordered mine a couple months ago from skanline, i too was on backorder, and then two days later it was on my front door... total cost since i live in cali was like 293.00 ((5 or 6 bucks) shipping + ($24)tax), still cheaper than my local pb store, or online that i have seen it for.
A damn fool
05-08-2001, 05:37 PM
i live in ct, and it cost 265, plus 18 for 2 day air shipping )(i decided to pay the extra 7 bucks instead of waiting like 5 days for it to ship) but it doesnt matter now, becasue its on backorder. I hope it comes soon, but ow ell. About x paintball, i dont think thats the same 88cu tank, it says ts 14 inches long. That would make it like a regular 88cu tank, because the pmi 88cu tanks are diffeent, there fatter then the 68cu, but just as long, not liek the ohther "boner" tanks (thanks eltwitcho) that are as long as the 114ci and skiinier. Is that true, or is it jsut tge wron info, casue the tnk is only 260 there, and probably not on backorder. I found it for 280 at paintballdiscounters, so i might order it from there if skanline doesnt hurry up. But its funy how paintballgear has it for 340 and u can get it for 8 bukcs less if u just look around,

i dont buy things from skanline anymore. i ordered a benchmark 2finger spyder frame. apparently they were back ordered, so some bonehead desided to send me a benchmark 2finger mag frame. i called them up and complained and the guy there told me that the spyder frames were backordered and would i be happy with the mag frame? how dumb are they? but anyway that was the last time i ordered from them. i like looking at there site they have a nice selection, but their site is funky its annoying to get around in sometimes. but i dont buy from there anymore.
Does anyone have an idea on how many shots I'll get out of my LP Timmy with a centerflag 68 ci 4500?
filasophikal
05-10-2001, 10:23 PM
it depends which series are you talking about... there is the 201 with on/off button, 211 w/o the on/off button, or the preset 68/4500...
all should get about half a case of paint to 3/4 of a case of paint... with the lp timmy you should get at least 3/4 of a case of paint... did u buy this at countypaintball.com? does it come with two guages? does it come with an on/off button?
Nope, no on off button and I bought it from paintballgear.com

imu,s if u have teh tank, why dont u jut try it out and see how many shots u get
cuz I just got it a few days ago, and haven't had the chance to fill it yet! I have to drive 30 min. to get if filled to 4500! My question was not TOTALLY pointless!

I'm glad Damn Fool posted this thread, cause now I'm on the verge of ordering a nitro tank, and too, I'm looking at the PMI 88. I thought PMI made an 88/3000 preset. Am I wrong on that front?
Also, I'd prefer to get the bigger tank and have even considered getting a Crossfire 114/3000. Does anyone know how Crossfire tanks compare to PMI tanks?
One of the things I definitely like about PMI is that they sell a Reg that screws onto the tank, converting it to an adjustable tank. This feature might come in handy later when I buy a new marker. But for now, I'm looking for a preset to put on my Piranha.
Anyway, thanks for y'alls help.

imo get the pmi 88/4500, instead of the 114/3000.... for 1) its smaller 2) its lighter 3) more shots 4) its a 4500 psi air system 5) long-term its cheaper.

I just checked BBT. They show a PMI 88/3000 for $189 and a 88/4500 for $250. The description for both says they are preset tanks.
I wonder how many shots a 88/4500 would get?

We have quite a few different screw-in preset and regular mounting tanks available. The Center Flag have been getting some pretty high compliments and come in a variety of sizes.
If you're using CO2 now and really want to improve your game, nitrogen is the 2nd best way. (Practice would be the best way to improve.)
This link will give you a look at all the nitro tanks we offer:
