im looking for a barrel thats of course accurate but also one that has really good range. my biggest frustration in paintball is when ive got a clear shot of someone who is just barely out of range. especially when i have an advantage where he doesnt even see me and he's walking around out in the open. ive been in that situation before and wished so badly i could have had better range. instead of the easy kill i ended up giving up my position and getting into a long firefight with him. anyways you get the point. im very happy with my xtra's stock barrel for mid to close range. so id rather invest my money on a long barrel if necessary. i was looking at the 18 or 20 inch stone cold. any suggestions?

All barrels shot the same distance. I'll refer you to this thread

Actually, a longer barrel won't make any difference on distance. What it will do is increase the friction that the paintball travels through and decrease your gas efficiency. As of right now, there are only two ways to increase distance: Increase your velocity or buy a Flatline barrel. Since you own a Spyder, you're out of luck with the Flatline, and since the legal velocity at most fields (and the safe velocity everywhere else) is under 300fps, then you are out of luck there too.
Now, you're not completely without hope. A well-made barrel will likely present better accuracy and distance than your stock barrel. I like Equation, and they are available with or without bore inserts, if that matters to you. If not, then there are several quality barrels out there. I'd also recommend J&J, CP, and even 32 Degrees for an inexpensive barrel. But, most important of all, remember that any length over 12" has not been proven to increase distance or accuracy. I personally stick with 8" to 14" barrels.
Hope this helps

makes sense. so then i will ask for a recommendation based on accuracy. theres lots of good barrels out there its hard for me to decide. my top choice right now is probably of course the boomstick but im not really sure its within my price range. i dont really want to spend that much

Well, I personally like the J&J Two-Piece, Equation's Bizerk and Multiple Switch, Lapco Bigshot, and the CP barrel. Also, we have a new two-piece coming out that'll come with 3 inserts and the threads will match the Mulitple Switch, so you can interchange parts. Equation is making it for us and I hope to keep it in the $80 range. Not to shamelessly pimp my own business, but I really like Equation's quality.
Now, if you want a barrel under $50, then try the J&J Ceramic, 32 Degrees Quiet Riot or Nyte Stik, and the J&J Pro 1.
Just my two cents.

If you want an inexpensive barrel that shoots nice, get a CP.

what about the smart parts stainless steel? from the reviews i have seen it seems like a great value and a good performer. its also nice looking and would go well with my xtra, most of the other barrels for 50 bucks dont look that good on my gun. the CP does look pretty nice on the xtra though.

Keeping your head out of your *** is key in paintball, buy what works, not what looks good. I have a Teardrop on my 98 Custom, and i love it. $60, because +$10 for Tippmann threads (GOD DAMN IT!)
i think the j&J two piece is every bit as good as the boom stick, also the dye aluminum is good for cheap and the jj ceramic. but no barrel will increase your accuracy and anything over 12 inches is just too long and will actually hinder you more than help you.
