Paintball dissed on Fox News...

I am now royaly pissed at Fox News. Here we, tryn' get rid of our rep as a war game, and Fox News trys to cover a story about some small town banning paintball in public areas (that's not the bad part), but then started talking about how "we don't need to play war in these times", and then it showed a SPYDER adn said "these 'guns' often resemble real ones." they did not even refer to them as markers. It showed some of the real paintballers in the town's pro shop, showing the news guys angels and such, then when actually shows field action, it shows maybe 1 speedball shot, then shows all these disgracful military buffs in the woods in camo in a public park. I mena, I'm gonna write letters. I'm gonna send e-mails. I'm gonna demand that they show the better side of paintball, the real players, the safety practises, the sportsmanship, the nice people. The town only had one person on the council that thought paintball was okay, and it was just clean (or so to speak) fun. But no, they ignored him. I have written a letter to my local fox news about showing the good side of paintball, since they like having special stories like that, and I am waiting a reply.

but i mean think about it. they want ratings(and who watches fox news anyway), so what do u wanna hear about. a happy story about people playing as a team and good sportsmanship, or a bunch of warlike creatures battling it out with GUNS and shooting eachother near your home. i mean, that sounds bad to the ignorant.

i really hate fox and this tops the cake. i say we go to www.petitiononline.com and demand they do another RETRACTING story that shows the saftey and other aspects of paintball, AND make them show the saftey stats. they glorify football then condem paintball becuase to the stupid it looks dangerous. Someone needs to make a little infomercial type video, like a newstory informing people of the good side of paintball then distribute it to such people as the news and other organizations.

actually, i saw these things. it's true; some little town banned paintball. mainly because there were reports of people walking in the woods holding guns.

the full story features notes about the towns huge public park where people played. i almost think those people deserved to get paintbll banned around there.

anyways people called the police stations and whatnot claiming to have ben shot at. poor saps.:( :( :( hope that doesn't happen here in canada.

That's why I said the banning in public places wasn't the bad part. It was the label Fox was unfairly slapping on paintball.

i could see how a black SHOCKER (the kind that dosent have a Ex. chamber/ Reg, but istead just has the tank going from the Max Flo to the back of the gun) MIGHT could look like a gun, but that would only be if it had a warp feed on the oppisite side of how your looking at the marker. Poeple just overreact when they hear the word "Gun". i mean, (i know this sounds cheesy but) Guns dont kill people, People kill people. a gun is just a tool, like a hammer or computer joystick.everyone (general public) just needs to calm down just a tiny bit, and just chill.

We need to be smart about when and where and how we play. We also need to enforce rules. Making sure they are always followed and promote safety.
I for one am looking into approaching the Sheriffs deptartment in my own county, and asking the Sheriff to come out and play with us. Educating the Deputies as well as the Sheriff himself to what the sport is all about.

I love this sport, and I don't want anyone wreaking it for me.

I saw Fox News yesterday morning (Or whichever Fox show has Mancow on it for a little while), and they had William Shatner on it, and he was talking about the SPPLAT big game he will be hosting at Challenge Park Xtreme.

This summer sometime the Wgn morning news 4 their around town segment actually had jonie lung go 2 challenge park extreme in joliet and they filmed a game and broadcasted part of it and even had her shoot a paintball gun. Thats what really got me into a paintball gun.

Heres two things I couldn't agree on more. First Killer, like always your on the right path. I think it's VERY important to show law enforcement what paintball really is, and what IS exceptable and what IS NOT. Shooting random people IS NOT, and is not tollerated by the majority at large.

2nd: The infomercial is a very good idea as well, I think that the new organization that all the companies are in (the name slipped my mind) should get they're act together and make this their NUMBER ONE prority. Something, pamphlets at wal-mart when people come in to buy a marker advising their parents of what laws are in place, things like that.

You say Shocker before Viper M1 military or Tippmann 98 Sniper? Jeez, lay off the Shock :)

And a few weeks ago, I mentioned asking for a paintball field at our youth center(I'm on a commitee of youth that tells the mayor what to do :laugh:) and I got shot down. Everyone thought it was violent and one guy who plays outlaw twice at an old building(it actually sucks hard) with a brass eagle marker complained that paintball is boring. I was pissed off but stayed calm and tried to explain about the sport...they didn't understand.

I'm making up a report about paintball to present the next time we meet to show how "real" paintball is safe and fun.

Hey guys,

Fox news sucks anyway... all they want are ratings. They don't care about the over 6-7 million people that play paintball. Still, anyone that gets that channel should write to them and tell them about what a poor job that they are doing with the station and make them do better. Hey, and lets also write letters to ESPN and ESPN 2 to see if they will air some tournaments or something in the near future.
