OK, so here's my current setup/problem: I have two paintball guns; a black maxx pmi, and a tippmann 98 custom limited edition 20th anniversarry comemorative marker. I have never went paintballing with the Tippy. I keep it boxed up where it has accumulated value over time. (It's a collector's marker) so anyway, pbreview says that i could sell it for 250. They sell on ebay for around 150. After i sell that marker, i will be selling my black maxx for around 25, so i will not own a gun for a short period of time. I'll need to buy a new gun shortly after. The things i like in a gun are:
1. mechanical (non-electric) marker because i play woodsball only, and i play in rain, snow, or heat
2. double trigger because i love the feel of walking a trigger and putting alot of paint down the field
3. i like the feel of a stock for stability
Should I-
1. buy a normal tippmann 98 custom with the money i make off of the sales of the other two guns and then upgrade it to fit my specifications?
2. buy a spyder mr1 and save money while having all of those features come in stock?
3. do something else? what else could i find that's under 150-200 bucks that fits my preferences?
Those are the conditions. Good luck debating...

You could pick up an Autococker trilogy for around 60 and put a T stock on it and you would still have money left over to get a used HPA tank (not that you need it) a few other odds and ends. The mech trilogy will fit all your requirements and will be more accurate/efficient than the 98c you wanted, its also more compact which helps in the thick brush and stuff.

The LE 98C, I don't think you could get more than about $100 for it.

Considering that it's a marker that you probably wouldn't (or shouldn't) play with, $100 sounds about right. It'll only increase with age while kept in immaculate condition, and it would probably take another 5 or so years to possibly make double what you dropped for it.

If it were mine Id be using it. I dont buy guns to collect dust but thats just me.

...which is exactly why a collector's gun is sorta difficult to sell.
I could very well be wrong, though. A lot of players sell their [1 of 1 DARK DEMON EGO10 SUPER CLEAN] markers for an exorbitant price, and somehow these used markers sell.
I don't particularly like this practice. A laser engraving immediately makes a marker 1 of 1? I thought anyone could get laser engraving of anything on their markers for enough cash. Sure, there's the whole "every marker is unique like a gun is unique" spiel...I guess I just don't buy it.

For me a " 1 of 1 " would have to be a gun that has custom parts not found or made for any other gun out there, custom laser or engraving does not cut it for me, it just makes me think its a gun modified to fit the owners style.

1 of 1 to me is guns that have 1 off parts from the factory, custom made parts, and truly 1 of 1 anodizing from the factory. Ive owned a couple such markers.

You shouldn't just buy another Tippmann and upgrade...advice from an experienced woodsballer. Don't buy a spyder as they have a tendancy to get jammed or break down in medium to heavy conditions such as rain, snow, and thick brushy areasduring the fall and spring. and for your last question I think you should get the new Tippmann Carver One, this gun has the same durability of a 98c and the upgrade ability of an A5, The C1 has no forgrip but is stock upgradable and will take 98 barrel threads, the overall price for a C1 is $100 or under...the upgrades will be around 40 call it 50 dollars

Dude, just beef that thing up with some sick mods and get out there and dominate some people. I get that it's a 'collectors gun' but tippmann made that thing to destroy people. I'd use it. Just be nice to it and take care of it and stuff. Plus how BA would you be rolling the field with that thing. I'll take it off your hands for 50 bucks. Haahaha.

I definitely would keep the Tippmann 98 . I undrstand its a prize marker. But prize it may be, that would make me more interested in the performance possibilities from it. Start with the basics check the internals and see if they are nice and polished then go from their. After the polishing it may perform to where you want it. But definitely add the cyclone feed system to it. Try to stick to Tippmann brand Upgrade to compliment the marker.

No lie dude, this is like the 5th post you've made all recommending polishing the internals. You're all about polishing some internals.

Well, let him polish his internals 5 times and see if his gun still works .
