Yes, you can use nitro on your tippmann. You don't need any upgrades to use nitrogen. But, tippmann does make a low pressure kit.

yes you do need an upgrade. you will have to put a macroline in the gun and then you would put a guage where you screw the CO2 in.

you will have to put a macroline in the gun
Steel braided hose works fine, no need to switch it for a macroline......
and then you would put a guage where you screw the CO2 in. You mean a regulator? You can just buy a preset tank, no need to go buy a reg.

You DON'T need a regulator, and you DON'T need any upgrade. I know these things first hand. I ran my M98 on a pre-set tank of air, the only thing you need to worry about is making sure to keep the gun oiled. Air will dry it out faster, so instead of oiling after every few play times, you have to re-oil after EVERY time you use it.
You CAN get the upgrades for kicks if you want, but its a bit of a waste IMO. I was acctually considering all of that but decided to go high-end electro instead.
On another note tho, I am SO going to get an A-5 for bush ball. I may be becoming a tourney player, but I'll always be a bush baller at heart :)

friend is wrong.
CO2 (gaseous) is around 800-1000 psi. nitro is (regulated, depending on each tank) usually 800-850.
so why would you need to change ANYTHING?

just read an article about the air america tanks. I think it said that macrolines can only handle 600 psi. Something like that. It said that Steel Braided was better than Macro in some situations.

'some situations' ? im not a fan of macroline, its plastic, it freezes with co2, and you just stated its not even good for nitro. if its not good for co2 or nitro, then what is it good for? nothing, its trash.

i was wondering if you could disconnect a nigtro tank with gas still in it like you could co2

Most N2 tanks come in 2 output pressures, either 450 or 850, depending on the tank.
Tippmanns run at high pressure, around 850 or so, so that would be the ideal screw-in for your C98, and ive never had a problem using steel-braided line on my tippy with either n2 or co2.

If you have one of the new screw-ins, yes you can just take it off like a regular CO2 bottle. (note: PLEASE dont try and screw off a dovetail molunted N2 system! turn it off the disconnect the slide-check and then slide the tank off. Im sayin this cuz someone at my field never figured out how to screw off his AA Armagedon......)

1) steel braided hose is macroline w/ steel braid over it......
2) why does my marker guide say for some guns "power supply: N2, Co2, or compressed air" but for the m98 it just says "co2" same w/ the carbine........

OK, lets see here......ah, here we are. "Tippmann Pneumatics inc. 98 custom owners manual." If you would kindly turn to page 7 and look where it says "Power" you will note that it says "compressed air, nitrogen, or CO2 cylinder."

i would just stay with C02 with a tippy, even though nitro is usually cleaner, good in all sorts of weather, and is way more consistant, C02 lasts longer and you would have to dump a payload of cash in a nirto tank thats big enough/high enough pressure to equal the ammount of shots you would get from say a 20 oz. i would just get a regulator (after the x-chamber) and use co2, or just get a palmer stabliser...

tch......sure THEY'RE going to say it can take nitro ;)
but really, co2 is better unless you're rich or in siberia....

hey man you dont need no upgrades to use nitro on tippmann. I used 68ci 4500psi pmi pure energy pre-set you just screw it into your bottomline. And the dumb**** who said it wasn't work it the cost, hes right. It helps your accuracy a lot but not $200 worth. Get a better gun and then get nitro son.
