I'd probably go with the CP in the smallest bore size you can get.

Yes, I have the nightstick as well. Very flashy looking, nice, and accurate as long as you have a larger bore sized paintball (.691 or 2) The redz pepperstick barrel kit I heard was a nice barrel kit on the mini

Is smaller bore size always better? It matters what size paint you use right?

Paint used to vary a lot more, and the average size used to be significantly larger than it is today.

Just a few years ago the "average" paintball was approximately .688-.691. The highend stuff like Chronic might be in the .684-.686 range with Hellfire(Now DXS Gold) always having run small, .682-.684. Nowadays, paint manufacturers are trying to cut cost by saving a bit of money on materials. Also, the manufacturing process has been streamlined somewhat. Today's "average" paintball seems to run in the sub-.686 range, some are significantly smaller than that.

As such, the player can afford to use a smaller bore barrel. For example, five years ago I shot a Powerlyte Scepter barrel kit, the two inserts I used most were .686 and .688. Most "recball" type paint was a bit snug in the .688 insert. Recently, I've been using Lurker Paintball's Eigenbarrel on my pump, it's bore size is .678. I've been using lower end DXS paint like Triumph, with absolutely no issues whatsoever. If I'd tried that a few years back, it'd have turned my guns into glorified spray paint cans.

The fact of the matter is, paint has gotten smaller, to get the same fit you got before out of a .689 barrel you're probably wanting to look at something in the .685-6 region.

Paint size relative to barrel size is a completely different kettle of fish, some guys believe in under-boring (using a barrel that is smaller than the paintball), some guys believe in over-boring (using a barrel larger than the paintball). Currently I'm under-boring, I shoot a pump gun, if I were to over-bore my paint would just roll out the end of my barrel. I've always been of the opinion that under-boring slightly produces better results, but that's just my opinion, I don't have any science to back that up.

If you want to buy a single bore barrel; buy one that is of quality manufacture, with a bore size that roughly mirrors the average size of paint on the market. Today, that is about .684-.686. You could also consider purchasing a barrel kit, which would provide you with a myriad of options.

thanks! I have another question about sizing and "roll out" are paintballs supposed to be snug down the whole length of the barrel or just at the thread end?
