Played some X-Ball at our field against all the tourny players (Hardcore Thursday). It was great! I had an opportunity to socialize with some of the players off the field, normally I just mind my own business. When everyone was having gun problems, I was on the field, practising sliding, figuring out the angles of the current field set-up, switching hands on a variety of bunkers as fast as I could, and I even tried crawling through the snake and finding out what sort of angles I had all the way along it. Snake is scary! Even when no-one else is on the field!
When it came time to play, I felt like I could really keep up with the guys. Called out lots and kept my eyes open -- I got a few good elims and battled it out with a guy for a good 30 seconds+ and I was shooting lefty! And I was able to do that while switching to right-hand and back to hold down a guy at snake 2. The guy on my left tried to bunker me, but I counter-bunkered him and we both got shot. I felt like such a pro, it was a feeling like no other.
I was told that I "play better than most of the guys who come out", which is saying something because I shoot a Spyder, and have only played X-Ball 3 or 4 times.
Today is the day I can officially say I've found my sport :)
