Hey Guys! Which is a better barrel, a DYE Boomstick or the J&J Ceramic? Which is a better value for its money? What are your opinions of both? Which should I get for my Spyder Shutter? Thanx. --Harrison

Boomy overrated for life...

If you really wanna blow your cash, get the boomy, however, I don't suggest it...it's just too much money and too little barrel. The J&J Ceramic is accurate, self-cleans pretty well, and very cheap. You might consider the 32* Carbon Fiber barrel...I almost got the J&J Ceramic but went with the Carbon Fiber instead...I love it...very quite, accurate, and the porting is small so you don't lose a lot of efficiency.

You can't really compare the boomy to the J&J ceramic... so I would have to say boomy. But if you were comaring the boomy to the J&J 2 piece then I would say that they are pretty similar and the J&J 2 piece is cheaper than the boomy.

man boomstcik all the way. i used to own a jj ceramic and its not all that great. then i bouth a boomy and it was the best thing i have ever shot. just save up for the boomy, dont waste your time looking for different barrels. obviousle Assassin doesnt know much because this is the most coppied barrel made. have you noticed how many 2 piece barrels there are out there? all started from the best: the dye boomstick. i have been playing for 2 and a half years now and with my experience this is the most accuate and quiet barrel ive used. have you noticed that 75 percent of pros have a boomstick or a copy of a boomy? (other 25 are freaks) the boomstick is WELL worth the money. i STRONGLY suggest a boomstick over the J&J Ceramic.

LOL, I don't know much...that's ok, I realize you are entitled to your opinion...but lemme ask you this? How many barrels have YOU shot? I've shot everything from the stock on my M98C to the Freak and Multiple Switch Equation Pro systems. IMO, those last 2 are the best, especially the MS Pro. I prefer All-American and the Carbon Fiber over the Boomstick. Sure, it's a good barrel, but for what you pay for it, I don't see that much quality. Speaking of saving up...why don't you save up and get a Multiple Switch Equation Pro system? They are way better than the Boomstick, and you can get inserts...and they really don't cost that much more...but there is oh so much more quality.

And talking about good teams...there is a team about 30 min away from here called Team Ridge Boys and they have been the PRA champions for the past few years...I know that's not the Pan Am championship or the NPPL, but believe me...it's competitive. They like the Carbon Fiber and Lapco Bigshot...oh, they think the Boomstick is overrated as well. And you realize all those PROs don't have to pay for their barrels...so why would they care about quality v. price Sure they like the Boomstick, I never said it was a bad barrel...but for those of us who acutally PAY for the barrel, for the price, it's not worth it...and I'm sure most of those PRO's wouldn't waste their money.

So here's my advice for the origional poster. Try to use many different barrels and get one that works well for you and the paint you like...don't buy a barrel just b/c you see a bunch of pros using it then swear up and down it's the greatest. For most paintballers we have to think about what we get for our money, unlike the pros.

And for the guy that said I don't know what I'm talking about, please think before insulting people, it's not nice, not necessary, but I can overlook it this time b/c I can see that you have a lot to learn...but if you have any questions, I'll be more than glad to help you.
