ya i was kinda thinkin that would come up somewhere...lol
Most players buy more than one barrel for their paintguns. Since barrel makers are very good at what they do, tippmann doesn't attempt to compete cause they are good at what they do(making 'guns).
You might ask why a barrel is included at all? Well, Tippmann wants the m98 to be the next standard field gun.. so it needs a barrel. Also, this encourages people to buy an m98 cause all you need is a new barrel, and the 'gun is far better than your average field gun, like an m98 with a crappy barrel. The new purchaser of an m98 with a new barrel automatically feels superior to field 'gun renters.
These are just some business tactics.

Unfortuantely I know what you mean, I hated my stock M98 Barrel. I eneded up buying a CP 14" Barrel and I couldn't be happier with its performance since.

Actually on any of the intro level guns the stock barrel will suck. You'd need a new one regardless of buying a Tippman or Spyder, so Tippman's stock sucking more isn't really a big issue. Well unless you're one of those extremely mature "if it's not a Spyder it sucks" people, then I guess it means that Tippmann produces crap.
