looking out of the bunker

I have question, (you can tell me which or which one is better for different scenarios) do i keep my head and gun out of the open when in a bunker and just take quick peeks or keep my head and gun pointed out of the bunker ready to shoot?

I personally prefer to tuck my gun down low close to my body and hidden. I'll just peek one eye to the side of the bunker or tilt my head sideways and look over the top with one eye. If I see somebody I'll take my gun up and shoot. If they see me first I can just pull my head back down. Unless their a real crack shot it's usually hard to hit the top few exposed inches of your head before you hide it again...

But I'm a newbie so theres probably better ways of doing it... :)
