well in the jan. issue of apg there was a article about this guy wayne dollack who was the founding father of scenario games. he tried to cross the border and they made him pay a fine of $200 per item. it also said under law even a squirt gun, or cap gun could get you arrested and thrown in jail.

I live in Canada, and let me first say that gun control in this country is insane and its getting worse.

A friend of a friend i know works at the border crossing. The only good thing you can do is tell the guy working exactly why you're crossing and what you have. You must tell him you have paintball guns, and that you're going to a tournament. If not, they can confiscate any and all paintball equipment. I have no doubt that the story in apg is true. Gun control in Canada has become out of control. Like in the article, if you even have water guns, they can arrest and detain you.

All I can say is do not support gun control. Particularly you Americans out there. These crazy laws that were passed in my country allow control freak, inferiority complexed border guards like the one in the apg article, to do whatever they want.

Oh and for any people who support gun control...here are some stats from Australia, who recently passed a law that required all guns to be destroyed. Hommicide up 8%, Armed Robbery up 44%, misc crimes up 7%. It has cost Australia over 500 million to destroy the guns, and the cost is rising. Hmmm, Armed Robbery is up 44%!? Gee, i guess the criminals didn't hand in their guns!!! These laws obviously increase crime.

Want to know something scary? Around the late 1930s, the German gov't confiscated all weapons from the public. Sure.. sounds good right, no guns to kill anyone right? Well, the gov't still had weapons and they were all under control by a guy named ADOLF HITLER. Nazism therefore could not be stopped in Germany, and needed a second World War to remedy. Remember that history repeats himself. Do not support gun control.

I came across the border with my newly purchased Intimidator, (it's cheaper in the states to buy paintball equipment, ALOT cheaper) and when they asked if I had anything to declare I said "No" and I was gone. A paintball gun is not a firearm, nor does the specific one I purchased even look like a gun. Therefore I feel confident in beleiving I really didnt have anything to declare (except for the fact that I avoided paying duty on a purchase that cost 1300 canadian dollars). Because of the new laws that require even items that look like guns to be classified guns, you may want to think twice about buying that AT-85..

yeah, but even if they found my trigger frame they'd be like "What the hell are all these wires and hoses? Why does this gun have a microchip in it's trigger? and the trigger seems to have no apparent mechanics to fire a trigger" and I would say "Yes that's right, please return my sporting equipment to me so I may leave" The internals are so different from that of a gun i might have a chance

or maybe they might think you are sporting a new chemical weapon, then youd really be screwed

Yeah that's true, like when you werent allowed to bring over two japanese versions of the PS2 because you could use the computers to build the guidance system of an ICBM. I'll just tell them it's the handle to the world's coolest power drill. I'm sure any of the teams competing at sky dome will call the border to make sure of any problems will be fixed. Paintball is legal in Canada, and so is the owning of paintball markers, it's just unfortunate that customs officials are so stupid and overzealous. I mean, here we dont even have to be 18, a 13 year old kid oculd buy a cocker if he had the desire, so it's stupid the bull that some officials are pulling at the border.
