I took Aikido many years ago. One thing that stuck with me is how fragile the larnyx is. Sensei told us, and demonstrated on inanimate objects, that it only takes five pounds of pressure to crush your larnyx ... which would cause you to suffocate. I wear a neck protector because of that. I just wish some of these gog makers would start incorporating throat and neck protection into their products.

The first day i played, dint wear a neck protector, but then i tied to bunker someone, and i ende up shooting him the balls, bt he shot me in the neck, which hurt, so i went and bout one. Then, when im wearing it, the ball hits half the protetor, half my skin, and slices into my neck, so that felt good, lol. I dont wear a chest protector though, they just seem stupid, i mean, wer not palying footbal here, are we?

Guys, if you dont like wearing the neck protector cause they feel uncomfortable or whatever reason you dont like wearing them.. get the V-Force mask. Thats what I have, and there is this thing that comes down protecting your neck. Works very well.

Good point Xtreme ... Brass Eagle used to make a mask that provided some neck/throat protection. Good to see another doing the same. I think they don't wear them, not because they're uncomfortable, but because they think they'll look like sissies or something.

My thinking on extra protective gear is this- Personally, I have never really thought that paintballs cause that much pain. I hold the record at my field for longest survival in a standoff game, the first and only time I've gotten to do it. I got shot several hundred times, (it was four against one- long story) and didn't leave until I ran out of ammo. I was completely covered in paint shot from 30 feet away, but, the next day, didn't have a bruise to show for it. My safety gear consists of a mask and some PMI half-finger gloves. But, here's the thing: no matter how unafraid you are of getting hit, there is always going to be that little nagging voice. If you're running for a flag or something, and the paint starts flying, part of you is saying, "God, what if I get shot in the neck?". Because of that voice, you might do something like, say, tilt your head down, so that your mask covers your neck. Looking down can make you miss something. Or, if you're not wearing gloves, you might not be in too big a hurry to expose your hands. Now, if you had been wearing gloves and a neck protector, all would have been okay. Fact is, complete protection will give you more confidence, and more confidence WILL make you play better. That's my two rubles...
BTW- the field owner took a picture of me all covered in all colors of the rainbow, and when I finally get it from him I hope to make that my avatar (if the pic turned out all right).

But about those chest protectors, I think those should be left to the females and the children under like 12. Not making any stereotypes or anything, just that girls do have a couple sensitive spots in that general vicinity.

my philosiphy (spell check) is if i get hit there, and it hurts then ill buy protection.
right now i dont have gloves, cup, mask, chest protector, neck guard.
J/k about the mask.
personally I wear both, but I'll be damned if someone calls me a wuss. Ive been lit up in the neck and damn near got choked out, scared the bejesus out of me and the other guys. The chest protector however I bought it a long time ago cause I shot a kid wearing just a white hanes t-shirt from a foot away and it broke the skin, BAD. If I recall he spent 45 minutes picking the shell out of his skin (yes I was using *** Eagle paint) Anyways, Ive yet to be hit in the chest in the last 2 years Ive been wearing (the small 32 deg one mind you, not that JT Emotion). but if your aware of Murphys law, the day I play without it Im going to get it good. but I play w/ no cup, and wear a t-shirt/tank top, and shorts (weather pending)

After shooting a guy in the neck last summer, I decided to get one (neck protector).
I dont have them now..but will probably get them Pretty much sux that paintball has become so dangerous... With the advent of semi's and auto's ROF and juvinile minds that play now it is almost not worth playing.. I know one of these days I am going to beat down one of these little brats that hit me more then 3X's (and break). People have no care about others. There used to be an honor in paintball.. a style! But now it is turning into a bunch of little spoiled kids hoseing away! lucky little *******s!LOL

I wear a neck protector now because my dad freaked after i got shot in the neck playing speedball and it was bleeding. I think it is kinda of pointless and uncomfortable. But i wear it because my dad wont let me play without it.

I use a cup and a neck thingy... who the hell would use a chest protector...they dont hurt that bad in that area. The two most important are ur breathing and of course the family jewels:)

i could see using a neck protector but i havent got shot in the neck "yet" but when i do ,cause it probably will happen i will then think about getting one, now as for chest protectors i wouldnt wear one bc alot of balls bounce off and i bet that if you wore one then everything that came near it would break. but that is my opinion paintballs in the chest or back dont really hurt me except that time i got shot in the stomach and it put a hole in my shirt now that hurt

man any one who uses a neckprotector is smart, u do not want to get shot in the neck, trust me i was bunkering some one and i shot and he shot i hit him in the chest and of course i got it in the throat, that sucked. and for chest protecters, man i just wear one for the looks(emotions) my whole team wears them they look cool, i hardly get shot in the chest anyway, i used to play without a shirt, but after a
20ft. shot that made me bleed, i now were a jersey.

people play wihtout neck guards, and there really isnt a problem, u dont need them, but i perosnlly recomend them, becaue ive been shot in the neck. I also didnt buy one till i go shot in the neck, and believe me, it hurts. As for chest guards, some people like the, ohters dont. Personally, i think they are a little extreme. Piantballs are paintball, and if u cant take a hit, maybe its not the right port for u. I paly in a long sleeve shirt, and thats it, but if its really hot, ill play in a short sleeve on. Ive seen guuys play in sleeveless t shirts, so i find it kind of hard to belie people really need chest protectors becasue paintballs hurt. BU then again, i have a hihg pain tolerance, so i dont know. To me, theyre a little too much, but hey, some people like them, so i cant diss them for wearing them.
As for a cup, i dont wear one. They unconfortable, and limit moving, at least for me. I wear a pair of cargo pants while playing, so therye pretty thick,a nd big, soits usuualy paded enough that the shot doesnt hurt to much.
