Fear?

Ok all you new players out there, I hear ya. I am very new to paintball and have played maybe 2 or 3 games. I just recently got a gun. It's a lot of fun. There's only one problem. FEAR! I go out there and am so afraid to move that I just sit behind a bunker and do nothing. I just am scared to get hit by a paintball. I am not used to be getting slapped by a gelatin ball flying very very fast. All you out there are probably going, "Haha this guy is a p*ssy. Haha." I don't know what is wrong with me, but I have been hit and it stings like nuts! I want to play often but usally fear strikes over me and I just don't want to get hurt. Maybe the reason is because I am young. Maybe the reason is because I am inexperienced. I don't know and want to play paintball without worrying if the guy from the left bunker is going to shoot me!

Really... I don't know anyone who can actually deny the fact that they get a little freaked while playing paintball. Thats why its so friggin cool. But you have to keep it in perspective. Paintball is considered an extreme sport because of the fear factor.

But paintball is "safe" danger...Other extreme sports like bungee jumping or skydiving can actually get you killed, paintball, only your ego can get hurt. hehehe.

Oh yeah.. anyhow.. like i was saying; you have to keep it in perspective. Just remember that everyone else is probably afraid too. But one of the coolest things about paintball is that you can overcome that fear.. not in one swing mind you.. but gradually. That is why I encourage kids to play.

If you want advice here it is: Go For The GUSTO. You can't die, you can't lose a limb. All you can get are cool multicolored welts. Its a game. Some people, when faced with fearfull situations either reactive with "fight" or "flight". Your first reaction may be flight(run away like a pansie). But you have multiple chances to take control.

let somebody have some fun in your family.

Go out in you'r backyard let them shoot you untill you don't cower. Hey don't say that is dumb, I went back less than 20 ft. and let my cousin shoot me, now I don't care if I get hit, cuz he hit me right on the bone, And i know if I get hit it won't hurt as bad as that did.

I have one thing that helped me get over the fear of getting shot. It is to let your adrealine take over, it is your bodys own defence system. The next time you are cowering behind a bunker think about where you NEED to be and make a mad dash. If you make it do it agian and agian untill you feel invincable or get hit. Either way you will lose your respect for the paintballs flying at you, because when you run straight down the field your adrealine level is topped out and getting hit will just be an anoyance.............

Just keep playing. With experience, you'll learn to be able to look at paint flying at you objectively. I mean that in the sense of you will no longer say to yourself "Oh god I'm dead meat", you'll start saying "He's across field, which means I have a good amount of time before the paint reaches me, and he shoots every 5 seconds, so if I ran to this bunker I could probably make it, but probably not that one". It's truly great when you completely lose the fear of being hit, and you can just focus 100 percent on your game. Something that works for me, convince yourself you wont be hit, dont think about it. Then if you do get hit, it's no loss. The possibility of being shot out in a game never really crosses my mind until the paint is already slapping into my body. Keep on playing and you'll end up the same way. Just be patient
