View Full Version : Severe Trauma - When to fill tank?

Could anyone shed some light on what went wrong for me this past weekend. Here's the story, two weekends ago I go out and put about 500 rounds of PMI Premium through my new Custom 98 (all stock), only 1 break and as good of accuracy as one could expect with that lousy barrel. Now this past weekend I split a case with a friend who also just bought a 98, I break 3/5 balls minimum almost all day long and he has no problems. It was terrible, there was almost no point to me playing. The only difference that I could think of was that I filled my tank a week ahead of time two weekends ago and then filled it that morning this past weekend. The guys at the field assured me the tank being freshly filled had nothing to do with it, but I'm not so sure. Anyone know what the problem was?

The new fill might have somehow messed up ur FPS.. i don't know exactly how, but a decent jump in FPS could do that to ne gun

I was trying to check that, it was a bit strange, my fps was all over the place that day. That and when I was taking the full tank off once, as I turned it and fired to release the pressure I could see liuid CO2 coming out through the bolt, don't imagine that's a good thing.

the vilocity kept on spiking from the c02.that could have been the problem.

If you have paint all over your bolt and in the back of the barrel then you botl is probably chopping paint. This is probably due to the the elbow and paintball loading chamber not being completely clean. Maybe a little piece of shell is there that keep the paintball from falling down completely. To fix it you need to COMPLETELY take your gun apart and clean it.

If the paint didn't get all over the bolt when it broke and ended up more torwards the end of the barrel it is probably because of crappy paint. Before you shoot paint next time feel it, see if there are soft spots, usually when the burst of gas hits a soft spot it breaks and soft spots are from paint being old. Just make sure you have fresh paint or you could get a venturi botl to fix it if this is the case.

You could also take it to the pro shop.

I'll give those rings a look. After the first weekend when I had no problems I was taking my tank of (for the first time) and unscrewed it too far before discharging the air. I didn't think the ring was damaged, it looked fine, but perhaps I should change the tank rink and see if that's the problem. What I'm hearing in general here is that a freshly filled thank shouldn't be causing these problems so I definately have an issue with my gun.

If CO2 is the problem get the co2000 reg to keep your velocity stable. I think there is a couple of reviews on this site under air accesories. It is a fairly new product, I THINK it should catch on soon. If I ran CO2 I would consider purchasing it.
