View Full Version : Sniping the real way...

My way of sniping is the way i think it is. you may have your opinion but one maybe wrong or not.
Sniping to me is really shooting at a distance without the opponet knowing. otherwise its not called sniping.
some posts i read before say that you sneak up and unlaod on them? that doesnt sound right , that sounds like rushing them. if you goto dictionary.com and type in sniper you getthe definition of "A skilled military shooter detailed to spot and pick off enemy soldiers from a concealed place".
Therefore you hide and shoot doesnt have to be far or close.
but you shoot from a place where they dont notice or see you that easily.
one way is to lob or aim high and try to let the paintball land on them . as if you were throwing a football.
all the times ive played and sniped i was hiding behind bushes trees or whatever and shoot single shots. to me this is a more effective way to snipe. walk slow, stop and look around for movement. then advance slowly. when you see the enemy, look around for any other enemy before you shoot insuring that they dont have a chance to shoot you. then take your shot and make sure you can get away if you need to.

i got a new marker that should have came today but i will get tomorrow, its the revenge 2.0
my actual marker is on thier site too. goto http://www.revengev2.com then click custom colors and electric blue is mine

anyways to the topic, id say that you need to be quiet, also move slowly, look around before you move.
on equipment some marker that has some range, also a good barrel that is quiet, no boomsticks.. too loud, try something that is aluminum.
remote not needed... and a 14 inch barrel is great.

Boomsticks aren't loud...they are actually quieter than DYE aluminums I find. Just because the name is "boomstick" doesn't mean they are loud...

Um ok, looking at your gun, you have a 12 inch boomer...

that thing under the camo net is a ""barrel extention""

i use a remote to keep the weight off.

i said to use a alu barrel because they are a softer metal
anyway i dont have my revenge yet it comes tomorrow.
i didnt say boomsticks are bad, the barrels ive used alu seem to be the quietest.

I wear a ghillie suit to all my scenario games, it is surprisingly helpful. Though it does get a tad hot in it on occassion.

i was thinking about getting agullie suite, the only problem is were i play they dont allow them cause they catchballs and doint let them break.

Ghillie Suits can come in handy during long games but if it is a short woods game, its not really worth it. Just have some good camo. I think a long, quiet, N accurate barrel is what is needed for a sniper. A silencer can be helpful 2. You can get a silencer on EBay. I built my own but it took some time.

i was thinking of getting a tippmann sl-68 II as a sniper. i heard once you get a new barrel (or polish the old one) and get used to them they are very good sniper guns. I was gonna use a brass eagle 45 round hopper just cause its smaller. Then get a 1.5x-4x pistol scope. then either make a ghilli wrap, cover it in real tree camo, or paint it in real tree. maybe make a small silencer. let me know what you think about this set up.

I think dats pretty good. Make sure your gun is accurate before u buy a scope. Because if the paintballs don't go where you want them to then all the scope is gonna do is magnify how badly you missed. lol

terpsare1

from what ive heard they are pretty accurate. Ive never shot one though.

MacGyver, what kind of scope is that on your sniper.

Killers Are Quiet
06-03-2001, 02:04 AM
MacGyver's first scope was made outta two reading glasses lenses, some bazooka joe bubble gum and two pieces of dental floss:) with deadly accuracy to boot.

killer dont give away all my secrets hehehe.
tersare the scope is a 5x32 simmon. i like it cause it gets a little closer and its a lot brighter.

hehe, my bad man, didn't know u were keepin it a secret.

but i didn't say how much bubble gum or how long the floss is so the secret should still be safe:)

To the guy who was thinking about getting a Tippmann
SL 68 II as a sniper gun...

Go for it man, my friend has one and it's great. Put on a 14" All American and it's tremendous. I shot one in the woods behind his house and I was able to pick off a soda can (4/5 times)at 30 feet. And at 50 feet I could hit a gallon water container (5/6 times). I advise getting one of these for those you who are looking for their first sniper gun.
Good luck, and good shooting.

what kind of sniper rifle do you have?

EvilAngel2001
06-06-2001, 10:32 AM
I have a Tippmann 98 Custom, with a 14" Tippmann Sniper Barrel (running on co2). I really like it so far, it's reliable, accurate and fun to shoot. The range is pretty good too. That's all that I have for now, it's served me well so far, but I do plan on adding to it in the near future. Once I get more money.

i heard that pumps are more accurate. What do you think? I like a pump for sniper, it seems like it has more of a sniper rifle feel.

EvilAngel2001
06-06-2001, 05:18 PM
Yea, pumps do have that "rifle feel". And they are proven to be more accurate. But I prefer semis. Semis, in most cases after they are tricked out to your likings, can do both sniper duty as well as take the assault role. And it's not that I don't have the skill to be a real sniper, and not be seen. Because for the most part, I barely ever have my position compromised. But when that time comes when you have to put up or shut up in a full on fire fight, you might just wish you had a semi by your side. Semi or pump? Either is good, but I prefer semis.

terpsare1

i was thinking of using a pump to snipe and keeping a semi as sidearm. Like the PT Extreme for instance.

My buddy and I will usually go out in a sniper spotter team. I take my cocker as sniper role(closed bolt more accurate, blah blah) and he has a back up of a spider shutter. SO he covers our *** while I snipe and we can bot go crazy if we are overrun. We do trade off every once in a while. When he gets his cocler we are going to get radios and be able to set up a cross fire but still stay in touch.

A two man sniper team? What were you thinking? Just kidding. I work with another sniper whenever I can. It works great and is extremely effective! Two men can pull off just about anything conceievable. It's great to do. My friend and I usually ambush or aid with our teams assaults and/or raids. He uses a Piranha, with 12" Progressive. And I use my Tippmann 98 Custom with 14" (Tippmann) Sniper Barrel. It's definately a good idea to go with a team member, because if either of you are ever compromised, you have a fighting chance at surviving.

Krayzee
06-07-2001, 11:25 AM
Just make sure not to get ambused if you two are close by each other. Its happened to the best of us. So make sure you have someone covering you, don't both of you snipers in the same area.

EvilAngel2001
06-07-2001, 11:49 AM
Actually, it's kind of a good idea to stay within a relatively close proximity. So you can maximize your firepower if need be.

Krayzee
06-07-2001, 11:51 AM
Yea, depends what kind of game it is though.

EvilAngel2001
06-07-2001, 12:10 PM
Well with big games, as well as scenarios, it's a good idea to stick with someone who tends to snipe like you. That way you can make an effective and very precise strike. This is what I've found after all my trial & error occurances. But then again, nothing like being a lone hunter. Not to counter myself, but their is nothing like hunting with a friend.

the best is when you play with a parter youve known for a while and trust, not just some guy you met. I've known my friend I play with for about 13 years, Im only 16. So I will trust him and he will trust me. That partner ship is very important. Sometimes we play against eachother though, just for fun. It's funny to see cause we know how eachother thinks. So we are constantly trying to outsmart eachother.

<<they are proven to be more accurate.>>

No, they're not proven to be more accurate. They only seem more accurate because pump players compensate for the low ROF by actually aimin. (Imagine that!!!)

Pump players know they can't out 'firepower' people with semis, so they try to make the shots they do get off as accurate as possible.

Besides, what do you think is gonna be more accurate? Pumpin a gun as fast as you can? Or simply pullin a trigger as fast as you can? When you pump a paintgun it throws your aim off a lot more than it would if you only had to pull the trigger.

Blaster you get the idea. You knew what I meant.
