I'll field this one, if the rest of you don't mind.
I've got two Imps and a Shocker, so I think I can say with some working knowledge that my Shocker uses alot more air than my Imps do. Now granted my Shockers in need of a complete O-Ring overhaul, it's a 99 and got a godzillion shots thru it, so it might not be as efficient as it could / shoul be. However even factoring that into this equation, Shockers are pretty tough on air, where as the Imps are really easy!
Again, this is my take on it! Anyone else?
The other side of the coin is, Alot of people feel Shockers are better on accuracy as well as distance. I can't comment on that right now due in part to my O-Ring problem.

The new Shockers are really not that much larger than an impulse and look pretty tight. Really, it all comes down to look and feel (personal preference), oh yeah, and price. Either way, you can't go wrong.

Rat impy's are pretty much the same as a stock impy, only with a milling job which does make it look very nice. Shockers vs. impys in how fast you can shoot with them are probably a tie, on range, the shocker has the impy beat, and like kat said, shockers are total gas hogs. So its really your preference which one is better, everyone has their own opinions.

Actually the Rats come standard with:
VFF/AFF/TapeWorm
Blade Trigger
High Rise Feed
Rat Snout (Increases Valve chamber by 33%)
Freak Barrel w/ 1 Insert
Derlin Bolt
Ti Pull Pin
Plus you can add vision to your Imp.
If I left anything out let me know.

Rats are far from just a mill job.
Honestly, both shockers and imps shoot good, just find the one YOU play best with, and buy it.
