Not sure that would give you an edge over say an Angel, but it really is the play that must be honed, not the gun alone. I can snapshoot my standard T98 and get headshots with just my Nytestick. Remember it only takes one shot to eliminate a player. It is the bond between the player and gun that is what works best. If you play and practice with any reliable, accurate gun and are good with it, whatever it is, you can take the day. I feel that the A-5 will be more reliable than any electro, will feed faster out of the box because the Cyclone is part of the gun, and can be set up with the right gear to be as short as any tourney gun. Bunkering is effective in play, and the A-5 would not let you down there. I will stop now and let some tourney players have at you.

If you're comfortable with it and can maneuver/play with it better than other guns, then it's tournament ready for you.

I've played speedball/tournaments with tippmanns, cocker, guy made me use his angel once (long story), but overall I play mostly with pumps.

Why pumps? Well, because that is what suits me. I am very comfortable with them and can just play better at times. So it can be the same for you with the A-5.

does anyone know how that new a-5 feeding system works? I had people try to tell me but I don't think they even knew what they were talking about...

The gas with the same system like the RT. Where it's vented from the valve.

Every time you pull the trigger, the hammer is released. It's pushed forward through the drive spring. When it hits the valve pin, it opens the valve and allows the air to flow. From that, there's blowback gas that pushes the hammer back into it's original position (eventually). The rest of this gas flows forward through the valve chambers/trenches up to the front where they vent out of the powertube. This pushes the geletin capsul out of the barrel at a high velocity.

Through that flow of gas, it also is now tapped into the valve. So another airflow is added from this stock setup. Air now flows into this piston on the side which pushes forward the mechanism inside the Cyclone. In doing this it forces the star feed system to revlove 1/5 a turn.

In "rich dummie" terms. With every trigger pull, the piston moves the hopper feeder. So you pull the trigger once, it feeds once. You pull the trigger 5 times, it feeds 5 times.

the a-5 is an amazing technically built gun. Being able to feed 15 b.p.s. is amazing. I know i've criticized it, but technically, it's a work of art. Looks, that's the downfall. But the gun wasn't built for tournaments so that's that. You go into most shops and ask for a tournament gun and that will probably, not saying the last, but it would be one of the last guns they would pick up. If you have that much money and can get used to a cocker trigger, i'd adivse it. Or maybe a mag. There are also cheap electros. The A-5 just has such a big profile. Play pumps in tournys is also cool. Anyone who does that has my respect and then some.

That is to bad. Michael Jackson? Phew. I will try and not go on and on just for you. I will keep it short whenever possible.

I think you are right in what a shop would sell you. I played in '87 with a splatmaster. There were no tournaments in which to play though. One shot is all you need to eliminate a player, so that one shot can come from any gun you have. If you show up, play with good sportsmanship regardless of how you or your team does, and have a good day, you get my respect.

i dont know if this question has been answered, but you CANT put a drop on the A5. im pretty sure on that... i mean. any gun is tourney "compatible", but its mainly cockers, angel, impulse, shockers, etc that u normally see, and not tippmanns. i dont worry about that stuff tho.....
