I've been doing a large amount of reasearch and some testing of my own, and I've decided I want to get a 12" barrel with the smallest amount of porting possible. To be honest I'm a little pissed off that I got the barrel I have, it works great, but my god the porting :( Other than Lapco, does anyone know of an extremely low (prefereably NONE) ported barrel? If you do can you include prices and etc with it please.

thanks a lot!

Oh yeah, and this is a little silly, but I'd really prefer the barrel to be made out of Stainless Steel, I just don't like aluminum :D

some place that doesn't like to make money. Most people want porting so most barrels have it. The cocker barrel doesn't have porting, but i think it's aluminum and only has cocker threadsl

pretty much the best barrel with very very little porting is the AKA javalin barrel. I'm assuming you want this for LP right. CP barrels, Lapco are also good choices to use.

You can order an equation barrel with or without porting at their site, but they do not make a SS one

Palmer makes "non-vented" barrels, but only out of brass and nickle-plated brass

why do you want no portings??

I think the old model Rebel's had stock barrels with no porting... but they sucked cause they were stock so yeah...

well, from my experience, all porting does is waste gas and shorten the length that a paintball is accelerated out a barrel. Sure it makes the gun quieter, but even if you had the most INSANELY ported barrel in the world it's very unlikely that if you were shooting at someone at a sensible range they wouldn't notice you.
Plus porting can be a real pain in the rear to clean by dry firing

Does anybody have any experience with these Palmer "unvented" barrels perchance?

a 32* carbon fiber has no porting but its not made of metal at all. It's make of the stuff they make monster truck and nasscar covers out of. i've heard good things about it.

aradus barrel can be ordered with no porting, plus it has a thing on it so that you click it and you have like 5 different bore sizes. I think's it's about $100

WOAH, hold on a second. the carbon fiber does have porting.

i reccomend the LAPCO, it has very little porting and is hte most effecient ported barrel on the market, so it gets ultra effecient design with some sound reduction as a bonus.

I'd say go with the Palmer Unported Barrel if ya don't want any porting. The only problem I know of is that brass scratches a lot easier than the metals and composite materials that barrels are made out of today. Hope that helped. :D

A 12" barrel with no porting = loud cannon like sound.:)

nope, try a stock M-98 barrel cut off just before the first ports. THATS a cannon for you:):\

Why would you not want porting? Velocity is force per unit area, allowing the air in the front of the ball to escape out the ports will increase the balls' velocity as it leaves the barrel.

The air pushing behind the ball stops propelling at the first porting hole thus decreasing gas effiency. You do want a tidbit of porting at the end to equilize the pressure (i.e. Lapco's design) though.

Does anyone know where you can get an unported New, more efficient design, Aradus barrel for the spyder for a good price?

I forgot to add this, I follow up:
What I stated above is only if you have a good ball-barrel bore size match, too small, bad- air escapes, too large, bad-you're gonna break balls.

You might look at the Bizerk by Equation USA. I have their Multiswitch Pro non-ported and it's great. Loud, but great :). In fact, changing nothing but the barrel (stock w/ports to no ports) I had to turn my velocity adjuster out (i.e. down) 3 1/2 turns to get my velocity under 300 fps. Very cool.

palmers brass ,good barrel's but as mentioned above, brass is kinda fragile, unless you get the nickel plated version

CP makes unported one piece barrel's,they are available on request and very cost effective

BOA makes great nickel plated brass barrels that shoot freaking dart's, Barrels Of America ,and they offer them unported, but same downside as palmers

lapco ,well you know that one

aka javelin www.akalmp.com ,shoot as good as a boomstick with
almost no porting

I was thinking of getting a BOA nickel plated snakebit a while back...

Fotch, can you give me more info on the Bizerk please?

Sure thing. Check it out at -> http://www.equationusa.com/bizerk/Bizerk.html

I'mn very pleased with the MS Pro system and I am considering getting the Bizerk for a short speedball barrel.

i would have gotten a bizerk but they dont make them for mags.

Porting dissipates the blast of air behind the ball, thus the ball is less likely to be knocked off course by the faster moving gas.

Yes, porting is less efficient but the accuracy increase and noise reduction is worth the loss.

You can also find an extra long barrel, then we can cut it down for you.

do wat i did ob my boomie, put electrical tape over most of the porting.
