a couple of friends and I have recently bought pump guns, and since we're not exactly rich we're not planning on going EVERY weekend to the pball field (10$ field fee).
Here in DC, at least the suburban area, there are patches of forest everywhere. But I mean everywhere. So we're planning on finding a desolate, abandoned area where no one goes and play amongst ourselves.
Anyone have anything special to say about this type of playing ? is it illegal ? if we accidentally play on someone's property or a regional park, could we get arrested/fined ?? what's the worst that could happen ? anything you think I should know ...
the last thing i want to do is do something stupid or illegal and give paintball an even worse reputation than it already does in the mass media. which is why i come to you guys.
thx

If I were in your situation, I would call the local police department and ask if there was any public land NOT off limits. Playing on private property without permission could always get you into trouble, so check with the land owner first. Wherever you end up playing, it would be best to post someone to watch out for anyone getting to close to your games(safety first) Or at least every one playing needs to keep an eye out for outsiders not wearing masks. Every one that plays with you should chip in to buy a chronograph, then use it every time you play outlaw. Don't forget to keep your masks on and don't remove them until everyone has safeties on and barrel plugs in, etc. Have fun:)

Thats what me and about 10of my friends all do. We found a chunk of unposted land across from my friends house. Its nice big area.. has a field, pond, evergreen forest part, and a thick wooded area, and the frame of an old house.... So we got a pretty nice set up. But if we run into someone thats says we have to get off than we just pack up and leave. We make outofbounds areas that might be to close to more civilized places. But its not a bad idea to do that at all. Its actually really fun... But you gotta be 10x more alert and safety cautious... Later man:)

First off, don't hop any fences to get to the land. If you hafta hop a fence, you're probably on private property.
Second, clean up after yourself. You should really even clean up as much garbage that isn't yours as you can. We had a perfect outlaw field. but the idiot masses of the paintball world found it. Now there's paint bags, paper towels, pepsi cans & all sortsa other junk all over the place. The only clue that you've been there should be splats on trees & stuff here & there.
Also, keep it calm & cool. Don't make more noise & commotion than is necessary. You shouldn't be seen &/or heard from more than 100 yards. Less depending on how close you are to public ares.
Commotion & garbage will get you noticed & get your nice little outlaw field posted in no time.

remember this:
if you are on private property, you can be shot and killed. no questions asked. if I saw someone on my property, my private property that my family lives on, (which if i was rich could include a vast forested area), I would shoot them. ESPECIALLY if they all had paintball "guns" which some moronic paintball players consider weapons... read the gun vs. marker forum.
they are markers. they mark people and things.

you cannot be shot and killed you can only be shot and wounded to stop the persuer from getting away from your property, the only way they could kill you would be if you shot at them otherwise you could get them arrested for them shooting at you

Find someone with a lot of land and beg:D Its so cool if you can get the person to play with you
Or run to the woods somewhere, I assume you guys got a car/ride?
Also as someone said before if someone comes then leave,
if they call the cops run! :) before they call the cops
Last if you make bunkers when done if necessary hide em
Like if its wood put flat on ground
Play safe, plugs in, masks, etc.

Outlaw playing is the one thing that hurts the sport more then anything else. This is where most of your accidents happen, and most of your injuries accure, it is also these "outlawers" that give us the most problems on the field, they are 15 years old and think they can run with the best of us...
From what I found outlaw playing is all together BAD, you would be better off NOT playing as much but playing on a quality field then playing outlaw more often and devolping bad skills....
Just talking from what I see day in and day out...

okay hold on there buddy.. me and all my friends play 'outlaw' ... we have NEVER had 1 problem or any complaints, and we even sometimes get spectators because people are interested in how we play and what we are playing. we use all of our safety gear and never have problems, and look at you going and saying that we are bad ... dont go and say stuff about people you dont even know.

Nearest pay-to-play? 40 miles. Cost to play? $25 a day. FPO.
Nearest tract of flood control land? 5 miles. Cost to play? Air and paint.
How many idiotic things have I seen done by idiots at fields? Countless
How long do idiotic things go on with us, outlaw? Zero
If you feel that you need someone to hold you hand, play at the pay.
If you feel that you may be an idiot who cannot control his own actions, and needs to be told what to do every 90 seconds, play at the pay.
Use common sense. Say out of people's backyards. Find public land. You know those big green areas called forests? Well, they're public. Pick up your garbage. Don't shoot at anyone who isn't playing the game. Simple, right?
