Co2 is a better propelant, but its unstable. Its less expensive for co2 tanks. the co2 in a liquid form can screw up the innards of your gun. you get more shots from crom a given area of co2 liquid in a tank than you will get from compressed air in the same area. (more shots per fill)
Compressed air is more stable, and for the most part wont mess up your gun. Any manufacturer of any electro gun you might buy will recommend the use of Compressed air. Except the shocker.
most people will site, compressed air as better because of its consistancy.
there is no definitive answer, but those are the facts i can pull out of my head at the moment.

If you play in cold wheather co2 won't do you any good, under rapid fire plus its not consistant and even freezes up in warm wheather. Nitro never freezes up and its consistant and most tournament playes in the world use it. The bad thing about nitro is the cost.
