Yes, Paintball is a recreational sport and is loads of fun to play, but if you are wanting to pursue and become a better player, there are many drills that will help you!
One drill you can try is hanging up 6 or 7 2litre bottles and practice shooting and snap shooting at them from various distances. If you didn't know, snap shooting is when you're behind a bunker, pop out and shoot one or two shots, then go back behind it. This gives your enemy very little time to react. Also try shooting at them while running.
Another great drill is to have a friend (or parent) get a trash can lid(the large round ones), get about 50 or whatever feet away, and have them run with the lid held at their mid-section area. This will give you practice with moving targets. Make sure this person is wearing a mask!
For many other great practicing techniques and millions of other stuff, get the book "The Complete Guide To Paintballing" It's really a great book and helped me out alot.
Thanx And Have Fun!
dont use the trash lid, just make them run back and forth by themseves!

Another good drill is a 2 on 1 drill...
The point is for the single player to learn how to play tight and not stay out in the open to long.
setup:
The single player sets up behind a bunker. the 2 other players set up 20-30 feet away. set up 2 targets for the single player to shoot at.
How it works:
The single player tries to shoot the targets, obviously, without getting shot by the other players. The other players are not hidden their goal is to just shoot the player.
What this acomplishes:
Player learns to take fast snap shots while not exposing themselves for long periods of time.

The snap shooting drill is one of the best and most effective drills you can practice. I'm going to work on that drill more over the summer, I still have a lot more room for improvement with the snap shooting.

Here's one that SWAT teams use.
1.hang a tire on a rope hanging from a tree limb.
2.get it swinging...
3.stand abt. 20ft. away, at first, with you're back to the swinging tire....
4.practice swinging around and snapping off one shot through the tire....then two....then three etc.
you can make it harder by standing further away, shortening you're rope (which makes the tire swing faster), and then try to hit the cans through the swinging tire.

Well, there are drills that do not "reqire" you to shoot paintballs. 1 very important skill to develop is communication. You should develop codes and signals to communicate.
Movement drills are important too. It makes it more realistic if you have paintballs shooting at you but you should try movements drills
Practice 2 or 3 man leapfrog drills. Set up bunkers try and get to one as fast as possible signal that it is okay to move.
Paintball is not something that you can just do better by practicing shooting drills. YOu need to practice movement. Work out, run, do agility drills. If you are slow, it doesnt matter if you can fire fast, you are not making it to the flag.<-exaggeration. Speed is a very important factor.

Cool Crawling Drill from http://www.paintcheck.com
Does your team groan when it comes time to do drills? Drills are a vital part to any team practice, and we will talk in depth about team practices later.
Here is an idea to spice things up. Do a crawling drill. That's right, I said a CRAWLING drill. Split your team into two teams. Put one at either end of a truncated (smaller) field. By the way, this drill works best of everyone wears kneepads. Have some legitimate reffs or other players reff.
Reffing is a cruial part of this drill. Both teams MUST start the game on their knees. If anyone stands up, they are eliminated. You have never seen people laugh as hard as they do when they play this! Players scrambling to bunkers on their knees is funny for some odd reason.
This drill gives the whole team a new perspective of the field. As a player you need to make yourself more familiar with playing at ground level. This will help you in countless game situations.
This drill is very tough for reffs to watch without giving away too much because it gets funny when players get close to each other. Have fun - JL

Since I am a sniper, I prefer to go for the difficult sniping drills. Warning: this drill is for snipers. If you are not a sniper, you can leave now. Alright, have your friends go out and set up empty soda cans and embty milk cartons/jugs in various places on your field. Now let them throw on their masks and they have to stay around where your targets are, the soda cans, and the milk cartons etc. Now you, don't know where any of them are. So you have to start off like you normally would, and make your way into enemy territory. See if you can take out the targets without being spotted by those around them. Problem here is that you are taking out immobile targets. So really, their is nothing like real combat training. Good luck, and good shooting.

any other drills?

this might not really be a drill, but it's more of a drill of who's got the biggest balls or not.
take a friend, preferred one that has got a paintball gun, and stand about 20 ft apart. one person shoots, then the other. jus fire about 2 shots, if you miss, take one giant step toward eatch other. if you hit, take a step back. if you flinch, take 2 steps in. teaches not to be afraid of close shots.

You want drills do ya?
Endurance, that is *the* most important thing to have in any type of anything. For paintballing, it helps to be able to fall into a balls out sprint for a good bunker and still have your breathing and heart rate slow enough to fire accuratly.
Now you want to improve your endurance do you? Run, swim, and hold your breath for long periods of time while running or swimming. If you can, run in heavy or wet clothing or carry them lil weights when you do it.
Now, after youve been running at least a few miles every day for a month or two, and you feel your in pretty good shape, then you keep doing it for another month. Then when yer done with that, go for your daily run, then practice your snap shooting and what not.

Oh! Here's an idea! ...Play paintball... That's the only way you are really going to be able to tone yourself. The only way you are going to get any better is to PLAY. PLAY. PLAY. It's as simple as that. Good luck and good shooting.

I have to disagree with that last post. While playing definitely isn't going to hurt your skills, drills are an essential part to any sort of organized play. Anyone that's ever played soccer, baseball, football, anything in an organized fashion knows practice means drills. For example...hitting, if a baseball player only played games, never took batting practice, never did softoss drills to hone and perfect his skills, he'd have 4 at bats, maybe 5. Think about that. He gets 12 good pitches a game, 15 at most to successfully hit a ball. How would anyone ever improve w/o drills? Experience is key, but so is honing specific skills. You might be paintballing and you have a window of a split second to hit a guy peeking around a bunker. I guarantee if you've practiced snap shooting at a soda can for hours, that guy will look like a beach ball. If you train yourself to react quickly and accurately under more extreme conditions, you'll be that much faster, and maybe that means the difference between you tagging someone and getting behind some cover instead of the other way around.
Fundamentals, experience, and psychological warfare are key parts to ANY sport. I'm sure I'm missing more, but those are the most important.
Peace.

Hmm.. drills? The one listed here are definitely worth a shot.
For training, you should work on endurance and speed. I work out regularly, and I've got my own work out routine. Running, biking, elliptical track, etc. What I seem to lack is the speed. Sprints would work the best, but that's so tedious. I'm a big guy( lineman size ), and I can't seem to sprint as fast as some of ya little guyz. Basically, if you want to be the better paintball player phsyically, then work out, work out, work out. Skill wize, the drills should take care of that. Oh yeah, experience is an important attribute to acquire.

A fun excercise I like to do for running: play a few games unarmed, try to grab the flag.. Snap shooting definetely pays off. Playing does help, you should try to play differently than you usually do, if you play back, try playing snake
