Great to welcome another mag owner. I have two and love them both. As for your questions.
1:I have a Pure Energy 48 ci tank. It is a good tank to start with. I have a retrovalve which sucks the gas but I can get around 1000 shots per tank.
2: The range is great, It is compareable to the cocker and other high end simi's. It will be outdistanced by shockers and angels but that's about it.
3: Speed is great. One problem is the trigger is different. You will have to shoot it alot before trying to go fast with it. I have a very fast trigger finger and can keep up with angles and shockers.
4: I would suggest getting a retrovalve if you can afford it. They run around 250 to 300 or over depending on where you get it. Also, get a Smart Parts All American barrel, 90-100 and a bench mark double trigger, 50. If you don't want to pay for the sp barrel you can get a Custom Products barrel for around 30-50. Also, If you don't have one already get a revolution hopper, if you try to go fast without one you will just turn it into what is affectionally known as the auto-blender. I know people who have poured the paint out of their gun like soup.

Any other questions feel free to aske. You can email me or pm me.

you should get the mag i have one and i love it i can easily keep up with cockers and electros i even played against a girl with an angel and she was suprised that i could easily keep her head down with my mag and then she tried shooting my mag and she was very impressed and she even complimented me on the gun

p.s. it wont seem like you can shoot fast when you first get it new but once you get used to it and you break it in a little(just like any gun including a cocker) you can shoot really fast and you can easily out shoot the lower level cokers like the 99 and 98 and you will be able to keep up with any cocker

if you are going to get a mag be shure you get compressed air (i have a 3000psi 68ci flatline and i get about 1400 shots off of it)

THEY ARE EXTREMLY GOOD GUNS AND ARE A BETTER VALUE THAN A COCKER

Why not worry about keeping up with a cocker and just buy a cocker? It will be cheaper too, cause all you have to get is the cocker 2000 ($335) and 20oz co2 ($30). Now if your under the impressions cockers MUST be upgraded, forget it, the stock parts on a 2000\2001 cocker are quite nice and shoot very good.

For a mag you have to buy the gun which you can get the automag classic ($250) but since mags have horrible blowback the powerfeed version ($325) is alot smarter thing to do. Then you need a nitro (at cheapest $80) or co2+remote (about $60) or co2+EXTREMLY good expansion chamber (about $70). Then you'd need a barrel which you can get like a dye stainless steel for liek $60 or something.

The cocker will be alot cheaper from this of view, but if price isn't a big matter to you and having to spend more for a mag isn't any biggy then why don't you just get a cocker and make it into a KICK *** cocker instead of getting a mediocore mag.

I never worry about keeping up with any marker,I own a mag and reason is I want too shoot it not mess with a marker all the time.I don have a remote on my mag .I have a anti with a stabilizer from palmer on it.I dont have shoot down unless my tank is low.Barrels ,hell ever marker Needs barrels unless its a blazer then its stock barrel rocks.
And I think the Blazer is a muh better marker even if you got too buy it for 600 bucks or a little more.I is a totaly custom build marker too what you ask for,

There are several preset tanks, 47ci 3k and 68ci 3k, right at the $100 and a little over mark. Crossfire and PMI, just to name a couple.

You can usually expect to get about 10 shots per ci from a 3k tank. So, a 47ci 3k would get close to 470 shots. A 68ci 3k would get close to 680 shots.

how is the range on this gun.

Range is determined by velocity. One gun doesn inherently have more range than another.

will I be able to keep up with cockers and electros.

What exactly do you mean? If you mean that in terms of range, yes, seeing as how all markers have the same range at the same velocity. If you mean it in terms of speed, most Cockers, yes. Most electros, no. But, you can buy electronic frames and ReTro valves if you feel like you need to shoot any faster.

And besides a barrel what else do I need to get it running and how much
Barrel, bottomline, and hose. You can get a macroline kit with two 90* elbows, or you can get S/S hose with two 90* elbows. That will mount your tank horizontally on the bottom of your frame. If you want if mounted vertically, you need the hose plus a vertical adapter. You also wouldnt need the bottomline for vertical mounting.

After that, all you need is a hopper and paint.
