I want to upgrade to a autococker paintball marker but I don't have a lot of money to spend. What are your opinions on the basic 2001 autococker. I mean is it worth spending money to get the baseline cocker with baseline performance?

Well, that would depend on what marker you are upgrading from. If you want to stay in the semi's the cocker is one of the best markers you can get.
If you have enough money now and want to spend it on a marker. The autococker is a great choice. In the future, you can always upgrade when you have enough money.

The stock cocker will work great for you. A new barrel will help alot, but the new cockers work great out of the box otherwise.

A stock cocker will not fail you. I would take a stock cocker over a total tricked spyder. The only thing to upgrade off the bat is the same for all guns, IE. the barrel. The only reason most of us upgrade our cocker past the point of necessity is the fact that we are all so good, even the slightest minor gadget MIGHT, POSSIBLY, CONCIEVABLY, give us a TINY, SPECK of a better chance. lol. Anyway, the base message remains, a cocker is a good choice. IMHO you won't find a better semi as long as you treat your cocker with RESPECT, like say you would a Porsche.

I had an STS G2 LE that for a Pirahna was decked out.
When I switched to a 2001 Cocker the difference was AMAZING.
Broken Paint was no longer an issue - Accuracy was even improved a great deal when compairing the Stock barrels...
Since I got a Boomstick on it - there IS no compairison.
A stock Cocker beats a tricked blow-back... Thats just all there is to it. With that stock Cocker barrel you'll want to shoot a bigger bore paint.
Once you make that switch - You'll NEVER look back.
What to do with your old blow back? Sell it if you seriously need funds, but its better to keep in your gear back so you have a back up or need to loan it to a pal.
