I have a 98 with a all american barrel and was considering getting a x chamber and a new bolt, but what i am really looking for is what will get the most accuracy. Anyone have advice on what to do?

Get a starfire bolt, polish your internals, get the low pressure kit, a good reg like an ANS, and a good tank like an air america. Your all american barrel will work great... now you only need about $500.

Is polishing the internals like removing the black on the inside or is it to literally sand down the bolts to be smoother?

Steel wool or sandpapaer(light grade) on the internal surfaces of the reciever halves. Clean it out VERY thuroughly when finished and oil those areas up. Yes it will remove the black overspray from the inside. Just do it wherever there is a moving part. Front bolt area, connecting rod, rear bolt(hammer). Do not do your bolt or hammer. The starfire will not make any difference. The nitro would help with consistency on velocity and accuracy. It sounds like you have a great barrel already so that is a plus. That is all. If you are going to stay with co2, get the expansion chamber, if you are going to go nitro, skip the expansion chamber because it won't do anything then.

Forget about a "star-fire" bolt, they're garbage that don't do anything. It has never been proved that venturi bolts are at all beneficial to accuracy, and I rather have the high-flowing, well designed stock bolt compared to a $15 piece of trash.
Accuracy can, however be improved through the use of aftermarket barrels (e.g. Lapco, Smart Parts, Dye, etc) the use of fresh, round, quality paintballs. Shot-to-shot accuracy can be improved through the use of a regulator, which regulates air (duh!) and keeps a constant pressure going into the gun, making velocity more consistent.

Hey, don't talk bad about the Starfire Bolt. I don't know where you get your info, but I have one and it makes my -98 more accurate.
I don't know if there was just some quality control problems with the Starfire, but mine works fine and has never given me any problems. I say if you got $15 and nothing else to get, get this. It helped my gun's performance.

Between a SP AA barrel (with a good paint to barrel match), and a Palmer Regulator, I think you'll have accuracy good enough that you won't want to put money into more and more. I was going to get a Palmer Reg myself, but I've decided against it for the time being ($$$ issues. I'd rather own a house, than own a Palmer Reg. I can build EQUITY in my house! Ha!)

That darn money is the reason I don't have my A-5 yet.:( I have to wait for the tax man to give me my money back, and then maybe. Until one day in the distant future when we can establish some kind of agrarian society where we trade skilled labor for a life in the lap of luxury playing paintball on our 4 days a week off work.

lmao, assurate....
anyways, one way to make ur Tippy accurate is doing just what you did, buying an after market barrel. one thing you should not do is get a after-market bolt. they are absolutely pointless and actually restrict airflow from the powertube. ive played w/ someone who has an AA and the barrel is not bad. i love my SP Progressive 14". xchamber isn't gonna increase ur accracy, but will make you shoot more accurate.... sound confused.... u probably are. since an x-chamber will keep your co2 constant, thus giving you a more defined velocity, you are more likely to hit a target multiple times with a velocity that doesn't spike. my friends XC was allowing him to pound us, even in 40of weather, while our 98c's were spiking b/c of the cold. you will not notice a difference in your shooting, but rather a difference in who ur getting out. ;) get a remote like while ur at so that ur velocity is gonna be at its prime.
also, when ur "picking" off players, RELAX!! i noticed that when i was relaxed, and focus i got more people out then when i was nervous and jumping around.......:)

The starfire bolt was made to increase accuracy and it does, so why would they make it if it was such a big waste of money, and if it was was no different from the stock?:eyes:

I have 3 styles of front bolts. And the starfire came on one I got from ebay. It affects the accuracy NONE. I have used 6 barrels, with the bolt in both a 98 and 98 CUstom. It would however be an improvement over a broken or worn stock bolt. And the argument of why would they make it if it made no noticable difference? Hmmm. Chia Pets and the Clapper have been going strong for 40 years. Half the stuff WalMart sells is crap that doesn't do what it is supposed to and breaks in a week. I like the bolt asthetically, but there is not a way to disperse the air onto the ball from the powertube 3/4" of an inch away from the paintball any better than the ROUND HOLE in the stock bolt. Starfire bolts physically do nothing that the stock won't, but it ABSOULTELY does not HURT performance. Anyhow. Half of the things discussed on forums is what people like. If you like it, and feel that it helps your enjoyment of paintball, I am glad, and am proud to be an American when I hear of someone making a product that people stand behind. Drive on Batman!:D
The starfire bolt might be good, but the bolt that comes with the marker is already really good. You could spend $15 on a new bolt or keep the already perfect bolt in the marker. Mainly its up to you, but I would go with the bolt that came with the marker.

Well actually chia pets are pretty cool and clappers are my favorite thing to do instead of paintball! Thats my life, chia pets and clappers.:sulk: yea.. im leaving now.
Improve accuracy?
- Good aftermarket barrel
- Best possible paint-to-barrel match with quality paint
- A well regulated airflow. Meaning the use of a secondary regulator and a quality HPA system (i.e. MaxFlo)
- With CO2 use, use of anti-siphon necessary plus dual-regulation (of if you want, even use a MaxFlo with CO2)
- Nicely maintained gun, meaning oiled up, and polished if you want (though polished internals will do either nothing or just a little but not noticable)
Because accuracy depends on these 4 things. Consistency, quality barrel, matching quality paint, and well regulated gas.
However, all of these things add up and will be costing you a pretty penny.

ok no star fire bolt but does any one know about the paint match for the barrel?

do a board-wide search for barrel matching, you're sure to find a link to barrel-paint match charts.
Have fun!
