Make sure to talk about safety and how popular it is. It is a 3 billion dollar industry and is the 4th largest extreme sport. tell about how it builds teamwork, confidence, leadership and other qualities. also encourage them to play and have numbers and addresses of shops and fields for anyone who wants them. Also bring some old mags and let them see and maybe they will understand the game we love. I know some people think its weird just tell them to try it befor they criticize. Hope this helps

The key is B.S. Mostly all the people in there will not have a clue what your talking about if you get all technical about it. Conclusion: Make up some technical B.S.

why dont you explain how the gun actually works. i would tell you to bring it in and show the class but the school probably wont allow it. you could draw diagrams and posters and explain them. visual tools always earn more points :)

I would start by dispelling the myths about paintball...(IE: bunch of rambos with guns running in the woods shooting people with guns)...explain how the game is played..(IE:capture the flag/speedball)follow that up with a talk about safty....and your into 20 minutes already....

I would shy away from talking about rate of fire....full auto markers...or anything about the marker itself....bring their attention to the game....not the gun...

I would not bring it to school......you might end up on the 6 o'clock news....along with your teacher.....

I did a speech on paintball my senior year(1990, god I feel like a geezer)where I basically went on and on about the equipment and the type of games played. 8 minutes is nothing, just babble. I took my Sheridan .68 mag to school that day but thing's have changed. Make a pie chart or something instead.

8 minutes is no big deal, think about how much you talk about paintball on this site. you can bring in the gun if you really want but i think drawing something for an overhead would be better, you could explain a bit about the history, then the game, then the basics of how your marker works. I'd aso try to stay away from saying shoot and say tagged, and call you pb gun a marker. you wanna give paintball a good name

I understand what everyone says about using p.c. speech when dealing with the uninitiated about paintball but there comes a point when all this dodging becomes rather patronizing and condesending to the listener. Some astute classmate is going to say," So you take that "marker" that looks alot like a gun and shoot projectiles at human beings and when they're "tagged", which sounds to me alot like getting shot, they're out of the game, like they're dead?" Who's going to argue that point? These kids play tag with their hands and use markers to draw. All the speedball courses and the bright uniforms might change the look of the sport but not it's nature. Tell them how safe it is and how it's a good aerobic sport that requires speed, agility and smarts but don't try to tell them we aren't out there shooting each other with guns. We are. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that this sport has reached the level that it has but come on they know the difference and so do we.
