View Full Version : New 98c and Buffer O-Ring Question...

I just got my new 98c today and took it out of the box. As I'm sitting on the couch, playing around with it, I notice a loose o-ring moving around (freely) inside the rear bolt area (the slot on the left side of the gun).

I opened the gun up and it appears as if the Buffer O-Ring is just hanging out. It doesn't seem like there's any groove or slot for it to fit in or anything like that.

Can anyone tell me where this is supposed to go? It doesn't appear as if it serves any purpose in its current location....

Thanks.

The buffer O ring is there to prevent the rear bolt from banging the living heck out of the end cap, so it doesn't pop out the back of your gun.

Now, it can float about inside because the bolt will push it back into a "buffering" position.

So, don't take it out, it does server a purpose.

leave it in there buddy. it does just what it says, "buffer o-ring"... think about it, it prevents the back bolt from slamming up against the back knob.

Awesome... That's what I figured, but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks again.
