What is the best bolt out for the impulse, in your opinion. Thx

I would say the New Designz equalizer or Werm Undertow. The equalizer gives you a healthy velocity increase, and in the Bolt Chrono test found in Wolverine's Impulse FAQ, was found to be the most consistent. On the other hand, the undertow is supposed to increase accuracy at +75 feet, but i have heard rumors that some undetows are a bit too long, causing balls to chop. Don't know if its true or not, though.

I like my undertow a lot. but the caveat there is you have to have a loose paint match. that's why it's recommended that you have the freak barrel to go along with it.

a loose paint match, i don't quite understand...elaborate please?

loose paint is exactly that. paint that is undersized for the barrel diameter. you normally want paint that fits snugly in the barrel, but tight enough that you can't blow it out like a blowgun.

with the undertow you need a loose fit, one that allows the paint to roll out of the barrel easily.

for example:

I shoot JT Maxims, they're just about perfect in the progressive barrel that comes stock with the impy. In order to get the undertow to work right I have to use a .691" insert in my freak. several sizes bigger than the progressive.

The face of the bolt is cut in a kind of triangle. the air flow out of it puts backspin on the ball like a tippman flatline.

but i heard that this undertow is a little too long and chops paintballs because of it, does neone know a bolt that when cocked is flush with the back of the impulse?

VooDoo delrin bolt doesnt stick out of the back of the gun and has a cool sticky SP logo on it

yeah i think i like the voodoo the best, the impulse FAQ gave the voodoo as the best all round bolt.

Well, I think the Undertow's longer range would be a more valued ability than say, lower pressure or gas efficency.

The backspin...does it have negative effects like the Flatlines horrid curving?

Also, if the Undertow works as well as you guys say, wouldn't it eliminate the need for a Freak?? I'm thinking just one large bore barrel(691-693) would be fine for almost all brands of paint.

different paints vary in size so that the freak is probably needed.....plus even if you use the same brand of paint i think that the bore size might change from batch to batch (dont flame me if i'm wrong on this) so the freak is definetly a good investment......i'm gonna get it as soon as i have the cash after buying a new vision board
