I always thought that would be kind of a good idea...

Assuming that is that it wouldn't interfere with your teams communication.

But I definately find music, specifically Acid/Hard Trance or breakbeat, it really puts me in the zone... I focus better, and although I know it's probably more psychological than anything it feels like I can move better with a smoother flow and rhythm...

Kinda weird to explain.. Maybe these are all just flashbacks to my chemical exploration raver days of the early 90's..?

As for specifically what.. I prefer DJ mixed stuff to actual songs...

I guess I would have to suggest...

Sasha
Digweed
Paul Oakenfold
DJ Hardware
Mark Oliver (older stuff)
Danny Henry (for toronto ppl.. Whatever happened to him?)
Prodigy (older stuff)
Mark Anthony (not that new ***got singer)

- of course there are tonnes of others as well.. But these are some of my faves I have seen live and have good memories of.

Music has its pros and cons. Yes it can totally get you hyped, but it can also hinder team communication. If your just having a good time with friends, crank the stuff, but if your practicing or having a more serious game, it would probably be better to go with out or at least turn it down.

OMG, how can you like mudvayne and then totally lose everyone's respect by liking Limp biz(bunch o homos especially fred durst)kit.

~Telepathically kicking Dan in the nads~

As for playing music on fields, I think it's a good idea, because it changes the atmosphere alot. It can help give it a more "mainstream" look, sorta like lasertag (yes I realise lasertag stinks, but when was the last time anyone said lasertag 'cause a kid to murder his classmates?). I think it's a good thing, but for serious tourney play, leave it out. However, inbetween session A and B at skyball, they were blaring music and it made for a totally cool atmosphere with everoyne workin on their gear and socializing, which was also cool, but unrelated :)

[b]Yeh yeh, for real music would be awesome, although I don't think it's a real debate right now, since some places already play music. I think that it depends on many different things:

The Volume - if it's too loud, than you lose being able to hear people sneaking up on ya and stuff
Music Selection - many people have different music choices, so yaaa

Thanks,

Dude, that'd be cool, have it be techno, no real words, more of an atmosphere type of thing, ya know?

it would be awsome except there would be disputes over what kind of music... punk vs. rock a classic battle

I have always liked the sound of paintballs smacking of bunkers and whizzing through the air more so then music :) My music really wouldn't correspond with the whole paintball scene anyway.

FYI I enjoy listening to:

The Doors
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Rolling Stones
Bob Dylan
Everclear

Holliday

on the contrary floored, the rolling stones: painted black would go real well with paintball :)

Every few games though they should turn it up to the omost unbearable point so you can't hear anything. That would make the game very interesting.

Or at just some point in the game blare the music for 2 min.'s so people can move quickly unheard.

The movie the Jackal.... LIke that... where he jacks up the music when he is waiting in the house to kill them so they can't hear anything.

orryn

Definitely during speedball. In some games you need to hear where people are moving to.

Heheh...

Reading some of the selections here...

Maybe its just me.. But I can't ever see myself playing PB to Pink Floyd, or Bob Dylan...

I love Floyd.. But I can much easier envision myself smokin a fattie in my room and staring at the ceiling contemplating the mysteries of life and the world, craving doritos and mountain dew but being too lazy to move...

Well.. I guess they do have their faster songs too.. But I always prefered their slower stuff...

And I never really heard enough Dylan to form an opinion...

yeah that would be really cool. I was trying to come up with a way to hook a stereo to my backpack so I could listen to music. Plus it would be a pretty cool 'Sound weapon' because no one expects someone to do that. :) I could use it in a place where it echos and every one would be  ... confused.

el twitcho, have u seen MuDvAyNe live? they f*cking ROCK! they came on b4 Slipknot and the crowd just went NUTS! Great way to get in the mood for da Knot. Hope to catch both Slipknot and MuDvAyNe in July up in Phoenix during the OFFfest.

First time I played indoor, they had music playing and it was great. After a few games, they turned it off and talk about a deafing silence. Went and got my Slipkot CD and gave it to them to play, most fun I've had playing:)

as for songs/bands to play
Slipknot
MuDvAyNe
Korn (only their first CD tho, f*ck all that p*ssy sh*t)
Soulfly- Jumpdaf*ckup feat. Corey Taylor
and Slipknot:D

Why don't you just use a walkman/portable CD player, or a portable radio with headphones?

yo
06-01-2001, 11:57 AM
one, music during a game can only hurt your game. how are you suppose to know when someone's sneaking up on you?

second, if you're dumb enough to use a walkman on the field, you'll be spending alot of time in the dead zone...atleast you'll have someting to listen to while you're waiting.

third, when you shoot someone where they can't feel it but they can hear it, how would they know they're out or vise versa?

forth, communication, probably the most important aspect of the game. if you can't talk to your teammates, you might as well be on the other team.

inbetween sessions makes sense but if they have multiple fields it's a problem since it's not fair to play music while your sitting and someone else is playing. not to mention the bad music selection some of you have picked out.

hum this is a good question and i think no personaly it would be cool in rec games but no just it would get annouing mabey techno muszak but that would piss me off but no!

if everyone agrees on the music sure but if some people cant stand that kind of music it will throw ya off. like at the field i got (hit'n'run) the refs like lestening to music there but i dont like the kind of music they listen to and im sure the older people there dont either.

Letchworth40

music is very cool. it would be cool if they stopped the music when the time ran out so everyone knows to stop shooting

Incube
06-02-2001, 04:51 AM
yeah mabey it would be ok but it would have to be tehno but thats it. rap or punk would get you outto the mood you need something fast pace with not words to get you into the game that would be cool

Incube
06-02-2001, 04:52 AM
I still sorta say no because it would take the fun out of listening for your opperser movement!

in trauma

I do that right now, but it limits my hearing. If I had speakers on my back, then I could hear a bit more.

I played at this indoor place with music blasting away. ANNOYING as hell!! The other team couldn't hear me call myself out so I got pelted a bunch of times, felt real good. It'd be funny if someone started blasting away this weird music at a tourney, no more voices..

Congobongo
07-04-2001, 08:28 PM
music would be cool like in a sup air field or a speedball field where you know that people wont be able to flank you, but it would be totally pointless to do it on a woods field, hehe it would be kinda cool if you did a strobe light in a indoor course, man that would be trippy

UTLadiesMan
07-05-2001, 12:09 PM
Oh, I know. Let's play some Yanni!!

no, wait... that would suck
how about some good techno of classical battle pieces? Like Carmina Burana techno, Rite of Spring, New World Symphony.... man, that be the sh|t.

Rock/acid/punk works too. it just has to have a beat i guess

I've said it once and I'll say it again. I am on here to see other people's opinions and have discussions pertaining to those opinions. I am not on here to be told what to do or what to think.

Personally, I like good rock music. I have several gigs worth of rock on my computer. I also like classical. I can name every piece in a Diaghilev ballet. Many of which I have played before (I play trumpet). No I'm not a geek/dweeb/nerd whatever, I just like the music, and nothing you tell me will change that. However, telling me what to think will just piss me off.

Besides, those aren't bands. They are orchestral pieces. (Carmina has a choir too...)

Thank you,

goodnight!

FINALLY!!! SOMEONE WITH GOOD TASTE IN MUSIC!!! i think Pink Floyd's Young Lust would be a nice upbeat song for a speed ball game. Then pull out the 'ole Comfortably numb for woods.

It is a cool idea, but it would throw off my concentration and you wouldn't be able to talk to other people.

But if there was music playing, I would like to listen to Linkin Park, Mudvayne, Sum 41, Good Charrlotte, Staind, Rage, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, Godsmack, Lit, Rob Zombie, Powerman 5000, Guns n' Roses, Prodigy, Korn, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Kid Rock, American Hi Fi, Incubus, Eve 6, Fat Boy Slim, Gorillaz, Greenday, Stabbing Westward, New Found Glory, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and maybe some poppish kind of music that gets your blood pumping like, Start The Commotion by The Wiseguys.

But I listen to music to get my blood flowing before the game.:D

It'd be pretty cool to listen to metal during a game. My choices would be:

Metallica-Seek And Destoy, Dyers Eve, Blackened

Megadeth-Tornado of Souls, Holy Wars, Peace Sells...But Who's Buying

Pantera-Walk, F*cking Hostile, Death Rattle

Slayer- Seasons In The Abyss, War Ensemble, Love To Hate

Death-Low Life, Flesh And The Power It Holds, Born Dead

Skyclad-The One Piece Puzzel, Salt On The Earth, Jumping My Shadow

Windham Hell-Laceration Of The Soul, Darkness Deluge

Godsmack-Time Bomb, Keep Away

Testament-All I Could Bleed, Burnt Offerings

Black Label Society-Low Down, Bored to Tears
